Title: first production bike photos of stradaperta

check out the first (to my knowledge) published photos of production stradaperta:

yup thats kinda what it looks like. Now with a shotgun style MV Brutale exhaust and the 1098 rear tail. Looks like you can suck in a good size bird in the air intake.

No, no, no...it looks like that intake could suck up an entire anthill.

It's happened.  It's uglier than the Multistrada.
Maybe call it the Mullet-Strada?

Once again, John, I find myself hoping you're wrong.

OK, upon further review I've changed my opinion.

Someone should be shot.

Seriously?  That's some foam proboscis they taped on or something just to see if John would take the bait.

Wow that thing is truly hideous.

Well Ducati made another bike I don't need to drool over  ;D

I'm sorry if I'm fence-jumping, but this is the first I've seen of these pictures.

I had high hopes for the re-design. Everything I've read and heard says that the Multi was a great all-around bike in spite of its "6-pack before you can look at it" looks. Some of the custom Multis out there are freaking awesome.

I'm sure there's a great bike hiding in there, but I'll never know. In stock form, I'd have to be falling-down drunk to find it attractive enough to sit on.

What the make the beast with two backs, Ducati? It can't be talented AND attractive? The girl with the great personality has to have a face that would stop a freight train? Or one that looks like it already did? Italy is famous for its design houses, art, sculpture, beauty, and you give us this? I am truly, truly disappointed.

I hope someone takes one of these and chops the living shit out of it and makes something beautiful. That's right, Stu, I'm calling you out.

and people gave terblanche shit when he designed bikes for ducati.  the first gen air-cooled multistroodle is drop dead good looking compared to this new water-cooled design.

on my last visit to bologna, pierre showed me his design concepts for the water-cooled multistroodle ... they looked molto better than this one.

Its actually a really easy and fun bike to ride, and sorta comfy. But damn is it fugly.

Not to stray to much off topic but Ducati has some really big hit and misses IMO.

If I would buy a full out sports Bike it would be a 848, 1098, 1198 hands down. Nothing comes close to looks.

If I Would buy a Hypermotard... Ducati Wins again. I think its the best looking one out there.

Now If I would buy another naked bike I would prob pass on the newest offerings and stick with the Older monster style.
The street fighter looks nice but would need to get a new headlight to go with it =)

Nothing much else in the Ducati line is really gabbing my attention unless you chop the hell out of them which I guess is the norm to do in any case  ;D

Exactly my point!

Why does something so fun and easy to ride have to look like total shit?

I agree with ROBsS4r.
I am not a big fan of all the "new" duc.
To me it all started with the ST/999/749 generation...

ciao jim -

like we were discussing @ the danville concorso ... pierre's designs do not "play it safe" like some other motorcycle designers play.  terblanche's designs are very polarizing ... you either like em or hate em ... they push the limits of acceptability from the intended audience for the most part.  and let's not forget, pierre designed the supermono ... probably the best looking ducati ever.

btw, you gonna make it up to LDD this sunday?

I think some hated the 999 because it wasn't a homage to the 916.

I think the haters should be very happy now.

Doubt I"ll make it up.  In-laws in town for Mrs. ECV and ECV Jr.'s birthdays.  I promise I'll poke you in the eye if I see you.

it looks like function took over form.
at first glance it could have been beautiful, but apparently they wanted longer intakes maybe for tuning?
either way even the front fender is not very attractive.

I'm going to hold off judgment until I see it in the flesh.

By my expectations are not high at this point.

Seriously, how hard can it be to design an iconic, classic and gorgeous motorcycle?

Maybe I can just sweep the rides? Any downed riders can catch a ride home on the beak. It'll be like when Gandalf had that huge bird give him a ride from the top of the Issengard tower.

That fact that you just posted something about Lord of the Harry Potter Rings (*or whatever it's called) disqualifies you from riding a motorcycle in public ;D

But seriously...maybe you could get one and turn it into an animal-themed bike. Maybe even a unicorn.

Starting to doubt this is the actual bike.. posted this on multistrada.net:

Here is a comparison of the latest spy shot with the only other previous "unmasked" spy shot.

in many ways the older shot is more finished looking.
Notice there are no exposed screws on the nose as with the new shot.
Also notice the lines of the side panels. They differ quite a bit, even when accounting for the shot angles. notice the distance between the side panel and the "tank panel" vary greatly.
The intake sizes also seem to be quite different
finally the older photo has the Ducati lettering on it while the new one does not.
Also the older photo seems to have a plastic spacer where the headlight should be..

Out of these 2 I definitely like the older photo better.

From the time this was posted there are plenty of photoshop lines that made me question the credibility of these shots.

The shot seen above looks like a real spy shot taken by someone in passing with their camera phone or something.

While I was in Romeo at Ford's Proven Grounds... I was quickly asked to remove all photos of the, at the time, new F350 front end design, new Mazda, and an 8 cylinder Thunderbird (it was a bad ass car let me tell you...).

Some how my post got cut off but what I was leading into is that when they were testing the new GT, the skinned it with a GT40 body to keep the spy photo guessing. I'm thinking the same thing is going on here, the front end is going to be completely different in final form.
