Title: Large Windscreen Post by: orangelion03 on October 13, 2009, 09:52:58 AM I am considering one of these Givi screens to put on my S2R for multi-day trips.

Title: Re: Large Windscreen Post by: stopintime on October 13, 2009, 12:36:32 PM I'm not sure if I've ever seen one with a large Givi.
For a screen they actually look great, although I'm not sure the look is very "Monster" - more scooter? If you don't mind the on/off hassle, go ahead. The protection with the largest one must be substantial [thumbsup] Title: Re: Large Windscreen Post by: Howie on October 13, 2009, 01:14:14 PM You might want to consider a Dart screen, pretty damn effective for it's size, or a Zero Gravity:

(but i would do the ZG ST screen in the stock fairing too) Title: Re: Large Windscreen Post by: orangelion03 on October 13, 2009, 02:03:59 PM My plan is to probably go with the ZG ST screen to start and see how it feels (though based on placing my hand above the lip of the stock screen, I will likley get more buffeting at the helmet). I agree that the A750/755 look good, but they arent much better than the stock IMHO.
Then again, if I wanted comfort I should have bought the DL650 that I originally wanted [roll] Title: Re: Large Windscreen Post by: orangelion03 on October 14, 2009, 08:35:48 AM Just found this from National Cycle.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v48/orangelion03/nationalcyclef15.jpg) Easy to paint the area around the headlight to match the rest of the bike and I think it would look pretty good. At $100, it would be perfect for installing only for longer trips. Looks like it could use a few extra braces though. That's what I have a sheet metal and machine shop for =) Title: Re: Large Windscreen Post by: motolocopat on November 14, 2009, 07:31:26 PM MRA out of Germany makes three different styles for the monster and in various colors.
Twisted throttle ordered mine. I HAD TO HAVE the mid height one because it .... was what I wanted I guess! Seriously though it is slightly taller by about 1.5", has a slight flip to it that help rediret the air up and over you. I find that it is plenty comfortable at any sane speeds, say 80-85 mph. At that speed I' get just a light buffeting and even my big lanky 6"2" selve is not getting blown off the bike. At 70-75 it's perfect and at 90-95 I need to start crouching down. I think it looks better than the stocker also. It is teamed up with poorducriders supports of course. here's some photos of it http://www.ducatimonster.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4619 (http://www.ducatimonster.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4619) http://www.ducatimonster.org/gallery/search.php?searchid=5512 (http://www.ducatimonster.org/gallery/search.php?searchid=5512) http://www.ducatimonster.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4997 (http://www.ducatimonster.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4997) Title: Re: Large Windscreen Post by: DesmoDiva on November 15, 2009, 04:46:09 AM Here is a pict of the ZG ST screen in a stock fairing that I had on my monster.
(http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn43/Desmodiva/Monster/ZGTS.jpg) MUCH better wind protection than the stock screen, for me. I'm 5'5". YMMV. (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn43/Desmodiva/Monster/ZGTS.jpg) MUCH better wind protection than the stock screen, for me. I'm 5'5". YMMV. That is what I had on my monster for the first year. Pretty good wind deflection over the helmet. Still a little exposed if you have broad shoulders. You yung'uns caint appreciate the stress that motorbiking puts on us ol'timers! Just looking for a little strain relief on those long rides on cold days is all. Have some respect!! [cheeky] Doing my best to not call upon any old fart references. ;D |
