I've got a trellis full of grapes that some lady was gonna come pick like 2 weeks ago. I imagine it's gettin to be danger-go time before they rot. So make the beast with two backs it. I will make wine.
Anyone got an easy recipe? I think they're concorde. They're purple anyway. I've got a 15 gallon and 10 gallon stainless pot as well as 4or 5 carboys varying between 5 and 6.5 gallons.
Guy at work said he uses 2 quarts of grapes, 4 lbs of sugar and some boiling water. seems like that might water it down but what do I know.
Picking tomorrow if it's not raining.
Yep they are slip skin and apparently not ideal. However, they're free, I'm cheap, and I don't even like wine so I may as well see what happens ;)
I ended up with about 6 gallons of pulp. Could have gotten more but I got sick of picking them, and I damn sure got sick of pulling em off the bunches.
I'll dump yeast nutrient into some water and let er rip with whatever yeast I've got layin around.
Pics or it didn't happen. [wine]
Very well!

10 gallon pot. I heated up 3ish gallons of water near boiling, dumped in all the corn sugar I had laying around and added it to the grape mash. Since I couldn't find my potassium metabisulfate I figured pasteurizing it would be a good idea. I should have sanitized my immersion chiller to speed the process, but I'll just wait til I get home from work to add the yeast.
I'll also see if my refractometer reads high enough to take a measurement otherwise I'll just use my hydrometer.
aw man I was only at 16 brix :(
I put another 8 oz of corn sugar in after work and am currently emptying my honey supply. I've had a gallon of honey for about 4 years now. delish!
Still, if it turns out like piss it didn't cost me a dime out of pocket [drink]
Transferred into a carboy today. It was too much for that, but not enough to bother with another carboy so I used some bottles.

I'll let it settle out for a week and rack it into another carboy.
btw the honey I used was from an orchard.

Adding Busch Light to your grape mash will make it taste like undiluted ass.
Just sayin.
