Title: Termi ECU Mapping on a 695
Post by: WetDuc on October 15, 2009, 03:24:48 PM
I'm getting mixed answers (even from within the same dealership), about whether or not the Termi ECU needs to be mapped when the full kit is installed on a 695.  One guy said it's "plug and play" another guy said it has to be mapped.
Anybody who's had the full kit installed on a 695 (or I guess any bike for that matter)...did you have your ECU mapped before taking off or was it just plug in and go?

It will run better than stock out of the box I think.

It would run better if it was tweaked.

I suspect the sales person said plug and play and the tech suggested mapping.

Am I wrong?

Every bike is a little different, so shops usually adjust like they would do during a regular service.
In my case it was included in the price for installing, which was included in the price for the kit.

So, maybe not a requirement, but better.

The service guy said it was plug and play, the owner said have it tweaked.  I would hope the tweaking would be included in the install...

The "tweaking" consists of setting the TPS and CO.  No big deal, TPS needs to be set anytime a computer is replaced and the DP computer allows you to set CO.  I think this is more of a semantics issue.

if your spending the kind of money the ECU costs, you'd be nuts not to have the COs set and TPS reset so it'll actually run like it should with that kind of investment.

you need to reset the TPS and set the idle mixture.  some people don't and the bikes run acceptably (a fairly individual term which varies wildly from person to person), but it's luck.
