Okay, here is the question.
Have any of you flagrant lawbreakers who have run slicks on the public roads ever been a) stopped for them, b) questioned about them by a LEO, and/or c) been cited for them?
I know I should know better, but I have slicks on the BSTs on the track bike, which is NOT going back on the track until next year, and I do not want to pay to switch tires (on BSTs, VERY expensive) and I want to try the BSTs on my 750SS (yes, I am a sick b*stard and I know it) and I want to do this soon. Like in the next week or so.
So, I'll be careful Mom, and warm them up before riding halfway hard, but am I going to get stopped and cited even if I am careful? And if so, what's the ticket and is it a MOVING violation?

I would just do it, just try to do outside of Virginia because they can charge you for manslaughter,beastiality,and inciting prostitution. Possibly indecent exposure also.
just take and put a pre-moistened wipe between your butt cheeks before you go out and keep and eye on your rear view mirror in the slower speed zones. I think unless you are stopped at a light and they are right behind you or unless you get stopped, it would be very hard for them to notice that they are slicks.
Quick sweep of google says it's a no-no. Couple tire manufacturers FAQs say it in to uncertain terms... So just avoid being stopped and no one can really tell ;)
Unless you're doing something that really catches *their* attention (like 120 on 211..ahem) I'd figure you can fly under the radar on this point.

Yeah, Zoom, that's the one thing I'm worried about. Maybe I'll spring for a set of street tires.....

had a friend run slicks for a week after a track day before he changed them. But he didn't have a license, so he didn't have to worry about that.
