Title: Yamaha YX600 Radian Post by: LowThudd on October 21, 2009, 05:07:09 PM Just bought an 86 Radian, wondering if anyone here has had experiance with them. It's in good shape, got it for $800. Anyone have a link to a decent repair manual? I have one on PDF, but it is created from what seams to be digital photos(not scaned), some pages are missing and others are to IZ_ to read.
Seems like a great first bike. I also have a 81 Suzuki GS750, but it's in pieces. Bought it for $100 years ago and never got around to piecing it together. I think the Radian fits me even beter than the GS. Nice bike, but I wish the deal on the M800 I was looking at haddn't fallen through. I'll get a duc eventually. Is the GS750 a shaftie? Either way, it's a solid piece of work. Not the lightest, not the quickest, but reliable as a hammer. The Gs is the rare four valve head version(is that what you meant by shaftie?) Engine is in good shape, still has cross hatching. Everything else is shot from the Alternator to the chain. Needs alot of work and is missing the side panels. Don't mind no side pannels, in fact I rerouted the wiring so it isn't visible when neckid. Mine worked well for it's age, always had battery and starting issues in cold weather but you'll learn how to get it started with some practice.

I think it's a great bike, does everything well, except I found the carbs to be touchy and had to have them completely rebuilt once and repaired once. Fast as hell to 60, especially in it's day, something like 3.3 seconds. Watch out, it's not exactly a tame first bike. Love the white dials. Got me through most repairs fine, I just don't do carbs.
