Title: Paddock Stand or Bike Lift advice Post by: Justo on October 21, 2009, 08:10:28 PM Ok Forumsters, I'm keen on getting either a paddock stand/s or bike lift for my 696. Im not looking to purchase something that will compete against a local mechanic or anything silly like that. Just want it for the convenience of basic operations like cleaning, oil changes and general servicin, then be tucked away nice and descreet in the back of the garage. Huh?
Any advice from you lot? What have you lot got? What have you lot Used? or recommend? Your help would be really appreciated on this one. Cheap for a set compared to other brands. I was able to sit on my bike, front and rear stand, with no problem and I weigh 215lbs. I kept my front triple tree stand and will be ordering a rear sss stand for my 1100.
Worked especially nice when I had rear spool sliders on. The rear stand can accommodate spool sliders or just the frame. Hopefully this is not inappropriate but I do have a set of motovation rear sliders for sale in the for sale section for the 696. Made it easier and quicker to throw the bike up. I sold the rear stand to a friend for his bike (not a ducati, but he will learn) and he loves it just using the frame. There are many referrals for t-rex racing stands as well as some others on the board. A bike lift looks cool and would be the envy of your friends, but I think a set of stands would be much cheaper, more portable, and take up less space wherever you are going to store them when not in use. I would get stands and convince a friend to get the bike lift :). bike is stored on the chock so it takes less space in the garage standing straight up, and it also holds the bike for when i need to put the wheel stand on to do the chain or whatnot. I have CycleCat rearstand and front stand. I'd rather have an -under-the-triple- front stand next time around though, mine lifts from the fork lowers. Which is great. Unless you want to remove the forks. I would like to get a wheel chock (baxley or other) in the future. You can fit far more in your garage without a bunch of leaned over motorcycles in the way, plus - you just ride onto it and step off. How nice! |
