Title: Irony
Post by: Buckethead on October 22, 2009, 05:55:50 PM
I had tickets to the Blue October show at the Shorline Ballroom in Hilton Head for this Saturday, the 24th.

That show has been canceled.

The entire tour has been canceled.

The "Pick Up The Phone" tour (http://www.pickupthephone.org/), which was committed to reducing the stigma associated with mental health, depression, and suicide, has been canceled while the lead singer is hospitalized to be treated for an extreme anxiety attack.

Please, don't misunderstand. I am not poking fun. Anyone who needs assistance should not hesitate to reach out. It is, if anything, a sign of personal strength to realize that you don't have to face things alone.

I just find the situation very ironic.

Thoughts?

If anything, it's less ironic in that clearly the band members could relate to the cause.

Granted.

Honestly, if you've listened to much of their music, the concept of "troubled soul" is very evident. Many of the songs are fraught with personal torment/anguish. Personally, that's one of the things that I LIKE about them. Not only does the music come across as very "real," but I can personally identify with many of the sentiments.

On a personal level, I wish Justin Furstenfeld all the best.

Love Blue October. Hope he recovers quickly. He has a very unique voice and writes amazing lyrics...
