After removing my airbox lid and installing a set of slip-ons, I had a local guy set my base fuel trim to +14 or 16 points using some software and an interface he had with a Palm device. The bike has always run pretty well, but just lately I was able to procure a PCIII USB for my bike.
Knowing that my ECU is already set richer than stock, if I load a canned map from PCIII, will the map override the ECU base setting or will the map just use the richened base setting and go from there?
I know that a dyno run and custom map is the only real way to go. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to load a canned map that's close until I can schedule some tuning time, or if a zero map would be the best way to go with regard to the ECU richening that has already been done.
Thanks
The PCIII only works with the signal that is being sent to the injectors, so it will add or subtract from that.
Very likely it won't matter anyway, I don't recall any canned maps having any entries in the 0% throttle boxes.
The effect of the trim adjustment becomes smaller as the throttle opens and the rpm comes up.
