so what's the story?

In the last 6 years I haven't left SD...until this year. I'm going to Modesto.  Veterens Day ride? ;D

So, what time of day are you planning to ride?  I would imagine that you would want to stay in LA, so what is your route?

In defence of my bike, it has yet to get a ticket.  I am ticket free on both my bikes, and try to ride in a safe, yet spirited manner.  Mostly likely, I am somewhat lucky.  Please don't think that I am a "wild woman" on my bike.   [moto]

Meet Up Time: 8am with a 8:15 launch. We can kick tires at the Rock Store (closed) I'd prefer a 7:30 meet but. . .

i'm totally down for this.  i've never been the rock store, either, so i think this'll be cool. as long we (or I) can go at a reasonable pace... i can't afford another ticket either.  lol

Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.  Besides, the rock srote isn't usually open on T-Day so we just sneak out back and pee on the wall.  It's totally hooligan.  [laugh]

^ that works- i'm seeing downey-ish...it's near honda world and stuff.  i'm a loser & can't find gas station...

If you exit the n/b 605 fwy at Florence it drops you out right by Honda world and the de-funct GM dealerships. Go to Florence and turn right......ride for about 1 minute and you'll hit a Mobile station- Florence and Orr and Day Road.

probably need an alternate OC meet up as that's not on the way for any of the coastal riders.

This thread and the other thread are the same ride.  5/605'ers have there act together and the details are posted on the original "other thread"...then y'all are to roll up to Malibu and meet the local gang at the Chevron in Malibu.

BTW~anyone know if the Chevron is even open for business these days?  The "other gas station" across the street from it will suffice if so... ;D

If the weather is anything like it was this morning, should be a nice ride even that early.

I think I am going to have to back out on this... I'm so sorry, I was really looking forward to going on this ride!!!!

I got loaded up with the major part of a large group project, besides the rest of homework I already need to get done this week. :( (I'm a senior and it's killing me!) All due the beginning of the week, of course.

My sincere apologies for flaking- I'm really disappointed here. Hopefully some other time soon.

As per the "in red" part of the posting at the top of the announcement, the call is to meet up at 8:15, and the ride is LEAVING at 8:45.  I'll be there at 8:43.

Hiccup number one here!  A low speed low side on sandy stuff not 5 miles from the start cheeky]

All I can say is thank dog for frame sliders, the damage was limited to some delrin, a Rizoma bar end, some scuffed leather, and what was left of my pride.  I took several photos of people and bikes and will post those later.  The second hiccup (did anyone get the young man's name?  By the way, he's an Airman in the AF just back from the Stan) got stung a bit worse than I did...a raw spot on his knee and blown out jeans, a dent in his tank, and an expensive rear-set half...but fortunately able to ride home.  We rode back together as far as his exit in Encino.  Big thanks to the riders in the group that assisted both of us today.

Still, it was a pleasure to meet those I chatted with and check out all of the bikes.  Y'all have a great weekend!

Oh yeah, DucofWestwood, does your buddy on the Triumph know he doesn't have a tail light? It lights up when he brakes but he's got no running light.

There was another guy with black gear and a red helmet with a black stripe down the middle that seemed to have a tail light that was stuck in brake mode.

So unfortunate about the mishaps but luckily everyone was able to ride away.

And, SDR_John you are one talented guy to be riding that big Kawi and filming one handed.   I would probably ride off the rode if I attempted that.

hey Fishinado - were you riding with a guy on a bimmer?  if so i think i pulled up next to you at a light on PCH before the chevron in the AM ... i assumed since you were on a Duc that you were heading to the same meet-up as me, but i guess not
