Title: Rizoma throttle tube slipping. Post by: mookieo2 on October 26, 2009, 02:41:34 PM not sure if this should go into Tech.
My Rizoma grip is slipping on the throttle tube. It started out when I would give it full throttle it would spin after the throttle was all the way open. (Thanks to a few track days and the bike not being fast enough) A 500 mile ride yesterday and it got progressively worse. I would go to give it throttle out of a turn and sometimes I would have to "walk up the grip" to get more to roll on. Almost home last night and moving at a good pace off the exit ramp, leaned over pretty good and It wouldn`t grab. It spun and I could hardly get any throttle to get out of the turn. I was thinking about taking a socket or some kind of seal driver and seeing if I could separate the grip and throttle tube and maybe epoxy them back together,and add a set screw to it like the clutch side or something like that. I had to do that to some more normal grips on a borrowed bike. The throttle would slowly close due to the tesion of the cable pulling on the tube, with the grip was no sufficiently secured to.

I was thinking about going back to stock anyway. I scraped up the left one during a get off last season so it annoys me and I don`t feal like buying a new set. Anyone want a throttle side in gold with a bar end?

The rubber part would wear just like any other grip, correct? you can buy replacement rubber "grips" for the aluminum sleeve. They're relatively cheap. I had trouble with teh cams on mine, so rather than continually messing with it, I separated the plastic throttle tube from the aluminum sleeve with a long, thin screwdriver, and then I glued the Rizoma sleeve onto the Ducati throttle -- I had to sand down the throttle then I pounded it in and used Gorilla glue -- that was last year (at least) with no slippage...
