10 speed with over drive? Sounds fuel efficient

I'm also fairly certain the CBs were chain drive

10 spd./shaft drive 81 CB  [laugh]

Shouldn't this be in the Craigslist retard gem thread?

Actually, it is shaft drive, and kinda 10 speeds. It has a dual range output shaft.

Then I stand corrected  [thumbsup]

But still have to laugh. 10spd/shaft drive 81 CB

Remember, this coming from a guy that buys CB's broken in half at the junk yard.

Sorry to offend anyone that owns (and loves) one of those little gems.  :D

Ass for every seat.

Very poorly worded. You'd have a hard time bigrig shifting through all the gears in a row. Not sure if you can even do that. It is a cool bike, but mabey I'm better off with my radian for a first bike.

It would be like speed shifting a Mack truck [laugh]

What about an eight-speed dirtbike?

Here's an interesting write-up - http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=123 (http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=123)

I can't keep my feet on the pegs that much  [laugh]

I come from a family of road, drag & flat trackers (Motos & cars).

I'm like a bad science project.  Kinda like droppin' a cat off the roof (not that i've done it).

'82 CB900 custom was my first bike for 2 years.  Shared it with my old man. Never really messed with the Hi/Low ranges.  we just left it in one.  Couldn't really tell a big difference between the two.  Or maybe I didn't know what I was doing back then.  We bought it for $2k, kept it clean and sold it 3 years later for $2K  [thumbsup]  Not what I would want to ride now, but was a good bike when we had it.
