Title: Ohlins DU046 (46PRCS) preload adjuster mounting suggestions?
Post by: YellowMonster on October 27, 2009, 11:22:18 AM
I just ordered the last Ohlins DU046 in the US warehouse (still 2 in Sweden) along with the last set of FG845 R&T forks known to be in the US as well.  I was wanting to know from those that are running this shock where you mounted the preload adjuster.  I know the instructions show it behind the low mount exhaust bolt on the right hand side.  Even though I am sitll running low exhaust (DP megaphones) I would like to mount the adjuster elsewhere.  Any suggestions/photos?

Also, for those that have done this, what did you do about the oil breather catch can?  Running a filter directly on the  breather and plug the hole in the airbox?

And for those that might not know.  Ohlins has discontinued all suspension for all Monsters except the current models/S4RS - anything with radial brakes.  I was not planning on going with a suspension upgrade yet (was going to do a motor swap first) but I felt I had to jump on my chance while I still had one.

:o  Thanks for the heads up on the Ohlins situation!  My suspension upgrade had been planned for after Christmas, and I was just lucky to see your post.  Well, there's one less DU046 left in Sweden (less than a handfull left), and it's going on my '03 M800Sie  [thumbsup]

Yeah, the situation sucks for those that want to upgrade in the future.

I just recieved my forks yesterday and my rear shock will be here Monday.  Nothing like opening a box on a brand new set of Ohlins forks.  I now know how females feel when they open a box and find gold shiny things.

Well, the upside for us is that short of destruction, these things are rebuildable, and I would think should maintain their value into the future due to their scarcity.

There was a set of fg845s on ebay last week.  I wish I had the money to do this now as it looks like it will be a lot harder/more expensive in the future.

Yeah, that ad was posted by Dan Kyle at Kyle USA.  I contacted him directly and ended up with that very set cheaper than the ebay price.

I just mounted them on the bike tonight.  I am now waiting for my carbon 998 fender (protect those TiN forks sliders better) and the rear shock.  Both should be here Monday.
