Title: Assistance Please!!
Post by: dragonworld. on October 31, 2009, 01:31:36 PM
Just a quickie (Suddup Jukie  [evil] ;D)

I've just changed the instrument faces on my gauges from black to white, got them from a bloke in Germany (Thanks Brimo. [thumbsup] ) They are brilliant and very good quality.  [thumbsup]

Anyway, that involves taking off the needles (Delicately,  [roll] )

Now what I'm after is the resting position of the speedo needle after the ignition key is turned on and it has gone through its rotation cycle. Does it finish on the "0" kilometre mark, or a little below.  ???

I would think most of these later instruments would operate in the same manner, but for the record the bike is a M1000S DS.  [moto]

I'm not too fussed about the Tacho maybe being a little out, but in the Camera State, I'd like the Speedo to be pretty well on the money.  [roll]

BTW, the Plods are trialling a new camera (For Vic at least) that gets you coming and going and is reputedly accurate to a kilometre.  :o

Thanks in advance!!  [thumbsup] [beer] [clap] [bow_down]

Its really a piece of piss, and the Deutsche fella called Manuel (? Heh,  ;) ). Is quick and efficient. Cost around $47.00 Oz and about 2 weeks. Looks good too.

Well after dicking around and positioning the speedo needle in a number of different starting positions it seems to find the original starting point after a couple of cycles........ so take note of where your needle is prior to removing it (Doh!! Dont get excited and pull it off (err remove it, sorry Jukie. [evil] ) without noting its original starting position. [roll]

The 1/4 bottle of Cointreau would have had nothing to do with it??  [evil]  [thumbsup]

Phuk, my head hurts.  ;D

Hey Dragon the needle sits right on the zero on both tacho and speedo ignition on. ;)
you can use a gps or tomtom thingy they give accurate speed.
readings to check your speedo [thumbsup]

All sorted!  ;D

Let the Instrument cycle, and when it has stopped,  THEN position needle assembly onto its pin location with the power still on and it will be in the correct position.  [thumbsup]

I fluked the tacho, but obviously not the speedo. Just to confuse matters.  [roll]

Easily confused today in my rather delicate state!  [roll]  :D  [puke]
