Very cool look! Can you describe the difference? (sound, fueling, does it run like before) Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: grandpa nate on October 31, 2009, 05:56:40 PM sound is deeper but not obnoxious and the fueling seems to still be fine...as far running any diff i have not felt anything out of the ordinary

Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: hunduc on November 01, 2009, 06:28:44 AM looks really nice [thumbsup]. what size did you cut to? any problems putting back the tips?
Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: grandpa nate on November 01, 2009, 10:09:03 AM getting the tips back on was actually the most difficult part. LIGHT taps with a REALLY soft rubber mallet and some patience did the job though. they are cut 7" from the base of the end cap. at first i was a little nervous about how short they were before i put the caps back o, but once they were all together i was very happy.
might do a vid so you all can here them. IMO they didn't sound as good as my old termis on my 99 900. now much happier with the deeper sound. Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: Mad Mal on November 01, 2009, 11:38:50 AM Looks great [bow_down]
Ok time to get the hacksaw out [evil] Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: grandpa nate on November 01, 2009, 11:49:52 AM GO FOR IT!!!!!
seriously once you get over the fact that you are cutting some waaaaaaaaay expensive pipes, it's kinda fun. Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: kopfjÀger on November 01, 2009, 11:57:42 AM Nice. [evil] I like the white raised letters on the tires. [thumbsup]
Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: mojo on November 01, 2009, 12:48:43 PM So did you just cut straight through the cans and rivet the caps back on, or is there more involved in this? I've thought of doing this since my pipes seem a bit long now that I've chopped the tail.
I agree with everyone else, it looks like [bacon] Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: grandpa nate on November 01, 2009, 04:21:27 PM first cut the carbon then drilled out the rivets and removed the end cap. then cut the stuff inside with a utility knife. now put the cap back on. happy shorter pipes...
cut termis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpwsA_Lhxso#normal) Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: mojo on November 02, 2009, 07:07:44 AM LMAO. My nipples are hard too. Bike sounds good [thumbsup]
Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: John1454 on November 02, 2009, 12:01:23 PM Good job. They look beautiful!
I still have the stock exhaust on my bike and it will be awhile before I spend the money on a set of termis... but I might do this in the mean time to the stock exhaust just to get rid of the "boat-anchor-look" of the giant stock pipes. Would this be possible on the stock pipes? Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: John1454 on November 02, 2009, 12:06:20 PM ........ the stock pipes do not have an end cap... so it would be pretty hard to do a "clean" job.
I guess I just answered my own question. What is inside the stock pipes? If I got a welder to weld the end back on, would it be possible with the stock pipes? Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Would this be possible on the stock pipes? Pretty easy to do, and I highly recommend it. I did it to mine and they sound almost as loud as aftermarket pipes. I cut 5" off my stock pipes. There are some good how-to threads here. Isn't too hard. Title: Re: Finally chopped the pipes... Post by: John1454 on November 02, 2009, 01:33:47 PM Maybe there's something for you here...
