Motorcycle safety ad message: road racing is a big No-No

Took me a moment, my first thought was 'What idiot put a shelter for corner workers in the middle of the run out area'
Finally an ad that doesn't rely on hysterical teenage girls. [thumbsup]
[thumbsup]
There's a race where somebody did hit a sign on the track, it didn't slow him down or anything, just confetti going everywhere.

I thought the same thing. Crawling into my brain..."What the hell track is that..oh wait".
I like the ad though.

Mmmmmm . . . hysterical teenage girls . . . yummy. [evil] Oh, wrong topic. Sorry 'bout that. ;D
The vid's really cool, but I had pretty the same reaction as the rest of ya --WHO THE F' PUT A TELEPHONE BOOTH IN THE RUNOFF?!? It also reminded me how often and how hard racers throw themselves down on the pavement. It's amazing that any of them have functioning limbs any longer.
Very good ad indeed. The bus was a nice touch.
"Great place to watch the race from *and* picnic... oh wait" [laugh]
Yea the bus one, the guy (the one waiting for the bus or so ) stands up as if he is about to run for his life..!! [laugh]
Really good ad.
Well done! Wish we could get that kind of PSA to run here in the States.
Really good ad!
of course, that doesnt take into account the time Yanagowa (i think) slid into the tree at the top of the corkscrew, or Mladin coming over a blind hill with an ambulance on the track :P

...or the DMG 'safety' car. [roll]

well, in yanagawa's defense, the didn't exactly do that on his own. he got hit by a dc10:
WSBK 1998 Laguna Seca - Race 1 - Akira Yanagawa Crash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLrovrcd5MU#normal)
(iirc, he didn't hit the tree, but said tree
was removed to create more runoff)
needless to say, '98 wasn't a good year for yanagawa:
WSBK 1998 Monza - Race 1 - Akira Yanagawa Crash + Fire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDsXZ9PwfB0#normal)
great video, took me a min to realize what was going on :P

Road racing on the back roads in the hills and forests is NOT for the faint of heart !
Takes a lot of practice on a bunch of lesser traveled , little patrolled roads at ever increasing speeds as one learns the finer points of Road racing in the 8 foot lane !*
* Not recommended for most riders
Dolph :)
I would not recomend it to any one. The thing is that some times the motorcycle road racer is not the only one affected by an accident of such.

This is why I love IOM TT so so much. And, I do indeed love those types of roads.

BTW, the IOM TT was on HD Theater on Monday night. I was flipping thru the channel and saw it.
Going 120-130 MPH on twisty country roads = INSANE!
Fantastic ad! [clap]
I don't get he second crash in the ad. He hadn't but just started the bar input when he went down. Who looses it on a curve in the straight? Had to be something there I don't see. Mechanical or tire failure?

A closed course, corner workers, and an ambulance crew on standby are pretty handy, too.
You've all got it wrong. In racetracks in south Australia there actually are bus stops, park benches, trees and phone boxes in the run off areas. [roll]
Doesn't anyone remember when F1 was run on a street circuit in Adelaide many years ago?

too much front brake...
Thanks derby - I guess that would explain it. It goes by pretty fast so it must be a serious handfull of brake. I'm not the racer type and the nearest track day is thousands of miles away from me with no road from here to there.
i caught up with mick a while back he doent have too worry about whats on the roads cause he flys every where now [bow_down]

;)
