Right now I have the Pirelli Diablo 180x55 rear tire on my bike. There's a gentleman selling 2 sets of used but in good condition tires on craigslist locally but the rear ones are 190x55. will those fit on my bike?
This may be a silly question but i don't know the answer [bacon]
It will fit on a 5.5" rim
What bike?
I have a 2005 s2r

does the 55 on the tire number refer to 5.5 inches?
What about the 190?
The guy says that this tire will fit my bike fine but I don't know :)
itll barely fit.
If you do decide to fit a 190 rear tire onto a Ducati 5.5" rear rim, I **HIGHLY** recommend getting a 190/50/17 and NOT a 190/55.
The second # in a tire's description is what's called the aspect ratio. It's a percentage (50 = 50%) of the width of a tire.
IMO, 190/55's are best put onto 6.0" rims.
190 = tread width in mm
55 = aspect ration of tread width to sidewall height (55% of 190mm = 104.5mm)
17 = diameter of the rim in inches
thanks guys!
I really only need the front tire. The ones for sale are the same specs I need. Guess I'll have a rear tire sitting around. For the price he's selling, I don't mind getting the set with a rear tire that I don't need.

I thought the 190's were all meant for 5.75" and 6.0" wheels
180 for 5.5-5.75
170 for 5-5.5
And 4.5" wheels are teeny.
But I don't burn through my tires enough to constantly be bugging the tire guy with questions.

Ducati supplied some SBK models with a 190 on a 5.5 rim... :-\
front tires last a long time, i would just buy a brand new one. You never know how the tire was stored, or when it was manufactured.
i'm just going to buy a new one. i maight patch it and ride to a shop to have it changed. thanks guys for the advice!
