To quote Peter DeLorenzo (http://www.autoextremist.com/on-the-table1/), it's "the answer to a question that nobody was asking, no matter how good it is." [laugh]
I'd love to have a spare $400
or some spare nachos
Fantastic car, nevertheless. But what's Toyota trying to prove? They are good at building boring, cushy, commuters for people who don't care about cars. Building a few one off supercars just doesn't do it for me.
Sorry, I only have $1M bills one me.
I'm the same a GH, Toyota really isn't a sports car company to me. Now put the Toyota engine in an Elise then I'm a happy camper. Toyota powertrain reliability & Lotus looks and handling make a great package.
2 add on -
1. It looks like a Celica. If I spend $400k on a car I DON'T want it to look like a million other cars.
2. 4.8l 552hp v10? Put that in the new Esprit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True, they could have scaled this waaaay back and just re-introduced the Supra, but apparently this was a 10 year pet project of one of the designers. I look at it like a project bike - not for everyone, but they built a very capable car.
I bought one for you. Its just sitting in my driveway waiting for you to pick it up.
If only you would send me to the sum of money for the taxes and certain fees for the release...and we can both be rich....my friend.
(best Nigerian Accent)
(and spelling)
for $400k, there are many other REAL super cars i would purchase (and have change left over) before i put my ass in this johnny-come-lately joke...
While you have your checkbooks out, how about a paltry $80,790?
http://www.nissanusa.com/gt-r/ (http://www.nissanusa.com/gt-r/)
480 HP
430 ft/lb
0-60 ~3.5 seconds.
So, comparing them side-by-side, that is
552 HP, or $168/HP for the first 480 horses, and $4400/HP for the next 72. Totally worth it ;D

Or you could go the Corvette ZR-1 route:
MSRP (base) = $106,880
Horsepower = 638
That's $168 / HP for all 638 horsies.
what would I do with $400k..
well, for $150K I could get a better looking, similar performance car.

housing must be cheap in your area ;)
Wow, it's uglier than a Nissan GT-R and only four (+) times more expensive. [roll]
Really?!?
Give me a break. I'd rather have a Ferrari 458 any day.

For $400K I could maybe get a house that didn't need too much fixing up. For $450 probably find something decent with 2 bedrooms. Not much left over for a car.
For $400K I could pay off my house and have enough left over to buy a barely used Ford GT and two or three choice new motorcycles....

I'm sorry... LOL...
but it really sounds like you could be talking about hentai... in which case, well... they do makie. ;D
extra money buys either extra outright cold numbers performance, or it buys you whatever 'extra' pushes your buttons...rarity, sexiness, etc....very personal.
For me it doesn't have the numbers to justify the $ (I'm not a numbers guy anyway), and it doesn't push any of my buttons in the other areas at all.
I also think they shot themselves in the foot pretty badly with a single clutch gearbox.
But the joy of toys are they are personal decisions. What I'd like is a friend with one. ;D
