Hey kids, I just put a 2000 motor in my 2001 m900 (it's working sooooo beautifully!) but i had to take out my speedymoto sliders because they no longer fit- and now i can't find anyone who makes sliders for my year!  Rhinomoto= no duc frame sliders, Sato/Shogun= japanese, speedymoto= 2001+....   Halp? Please?

What's different? It's a through bolt and you're using the same frame right? What am I missing here?

I think 2001 has a 12mm bolt ,older types 10mm

The hole in the engine case is smaller on the 2000, so that's the problem

For the monsters the engine bolts were 10mm 1993-2000 and in 2001 they switched to (and I believe still use) 12mm.

since the frame has the 12mm holes in it and the engine has the 10mm holes in it you have to make a choice of which you're gonna use??

If you choose to use the smaller 10mm engine bolt, then "ideally" you should add the stepped spacer/shim to the frame that Nichols sell, it's not on their regular menu but they've made em previously and are familiar with your situation.

If you choose to use the larger 12mm engine bolt, then you need to drill out the engine to the 12mm size.   <-- Talk to Chris Kelly at ca-cycleworks (http://www.ca-cycleworks.com/) about this, I'm fairly certain he's done it.

Now ask yourself
why did Ducati switch to the 12mm bolt?
And why did Nichols (http://www.nicholsmfg.com/) sell stronger bolts for the original 10mm engine mounts?

^ UgH i had a pregnant dog of a time getting my hands on those bolts...  the front one had been superceded (part #) THREE TIMES...  used to be 12 bucks, then 45, now it's 140.00!!!!  WTF?!  So I had to call around to find someone with a bolt that didn't have the 3rd part number.  Finally found one @ 45.00  in Nowheresville, NY where they repair italian bikes and sell hand-saws.  No joke.  :P

SpeedyMoto products have from time to time been difficult to find in stock.

You should read Cromo's comments and then find someone to make you a 10&12. I know that T-Rex Racing have made custom products for someone here, maybe they will be able to help you....  If you're lucky, it's just a matter of a collar to go from 10mm to 12mm in the frame holes?

^ i'm pretty technically inept...  i understand the fact that the bolt hole sizes are different, but not much beyond there. (plus i need these by next weekend track days, not sure as though i'd have time to get something made.) but thanks for the suggestion nonetheless!  i finally found a local dealership getting the correct size speedymoto sliders in on Tuesday.  i appreciate the part # and the t-rex info for future reference. :)

The issue is that your (new) engine holes are smaller than the frame holes (if I understood the above posts correctly).
Using a 10mm bolt through a 12mm frame hole might be a bad idea. Not an expert, just thinking out loud...

If you're  "technically inept" (I'm only quoting your previous statement above) then I highly recommend having the person who put your engine in also install the frame sliders.

To do the job correctly (since the engine is a stressed member of the frame) you have to:

Either go with the 10mm engine bolt/sliders combo and use a stepped shim (10mm to 12mm) where the engine bolts come out of the frame because the engine bolts are 10mm and the frame hole is 12mm and you need the shim to take up the slop.

or

Drill out the engine bolt holes to 12mm and use the current 12mm engine bolt/sliders.

... no drilling necessary, frame slider installation was very simple. i assisted. lol.   no, i do not attempt to do things to my bike i'm not able/mechanically qualified to do.
