Title: My Project Bike Post by: LowThudd on November 06, 2009, 04:17:07 PM This is my 86 Yamaha Radian that I got for $800. This is not my first bike, but it is my first RIDEABLE bike. It's a blast! Much better than a cage. I actually dislike driving my car(pictured behind bike) now.

It is missing the front fender, but I kind of like it like that. What do you think? I have been following the "70s air cooled Japanese bikes" thread and I kinda like the cafe look, just not sure if I want to go all the way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Title: Re: My Project Bike Post by: Ducatl on November 06, 2009, 10:16:06 PM I'd say it depends on how comfortable you are working on your bike/fabbing stuff and/or having somebody else fab stuff for the bike. Replacing a headlight with something that doesn't or may not fit the stock light mounts can be a lot of work. That said, the proposed new light is a neat looking classic light and for quite a price. As long as you don't go backwards in terms of the quality of light output on the bike I'd say do whatever you feel comfortable with.

I would suggest watching eBay for good useable parts that you may need and forget any modification. The bike isn't worth much, probably will not be worth much, and the chopper/bobber/cafe' look to 70's and 80's Japanese bikes is getting awefully played out and boring. Then, again, if you just want to throw money away, then have at it, but just plan on getting 0% of the money invested into modification back if you go to sell the bike.....and remember that modifications often chase away potential buyers; not bring them to you.Anyway, that's my suggestion. |
