Title: The Last Hurrah !!
Post by: monstermick58 on November 08, 2009, 12:16:03 AM
The Last Hurrah is happening on the 21/22 November 2009, this is surely the last opportunity to see a decent bike race on the famous Oran Park circuit.
The 6 hour, aka The Castrol 6 hour, now sponsored by Bel Ray will be the last endurance race we will see for a long, long time.
It brings me back to my youth (thats right, I did have one, you up the back, stop laughing) the six hour was a great social event, we set up B-B-Q's and looked at some fantastic machinery both in the pits and in bikepark, met up with old mates you have'nt seen in ages, good times indeed.
Only one thing bothers me though.

Its on at the same time as the Sydney Motorcycle show.
They (no I dont know who "they" are) did the same thing at the start of the year, when the Barry Sheene Memorial race was on in Sydney the held a very similar event in vic-bloody-toria and both had overseas guest riders, we cant do both. So for me I'm doing the bike show on friday and the six hour on sunday, please feel free to join me.

Sounds like a pretty good weekend all round.
I was planning on seeing the Bike Show Friday aswell.
I'll see what happens for the 6hr, it does sound like a great day out.

Sounds like a plan, time closer to the day.
We can also go this way, cuts out the freeway run.

Similar Route (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Princes+Hwy&daddr=Sir+Bertram+Stevens+Dr+to:Otford+Rd+to:Princes+Hwy+to:Wilton+Rd+to:Douglas+Park+Dr+to:-34.127721,150.705643+to:oran+park&geocode=FRrM-P0d8F8BCQ%3BFWW_9_0dkgMBCQ%3BFQrL9f0dyv__CA%3BFd7O9f0djkb_CA%3BFeYH9v0dbsj8CA%3BFVYI9v0dnMz7CA%3B%3BFWMY-f0dRN37CCnXyqGvQfISazEB36EVMK0B6Q&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=6&sz=12&via=1,2,3,4,5,6&sll=-34.112089,150.719719&sspn=0.150369,0.308647&ie=UTF8&ll=-34.2189,150.733624&spn=0.075089,0.154324&z=13)

Good route, but take Cobbity road just before you get to Oran Pk because it will take you nearer the pits

I'll be there. I've been asked as a guest of Demolition Plus has Racing Team

They ahve Gareth Jones (2009 ONK Dutch Superbike Champion & 2009 New Zealand Supersport Champion) and Russell Holland (WSBK World Championship Supersport Rider) as riders. Not sure if I'll get their shuttle or ride as I might end up having too much [beer]

I ended up there for a couple of hours, but got there just as the wind really got up, which discouraged me to move too far away. I did see mmick's bike in the carpark on the way out - a black st4 with yellow panniers kinda stuck out when there was less bikes around.

the trip there was good, the trip home SUCKED, I haven't been that hot and bothered on a bike in some time

we were there the whole day... we sat under the NRMA grandstand attempting to use what ever shade we could...

the cheese and kisses called in sick for work today because she is just wrecked from the heat yesterday...

pretty thin turn out of people... i was expecting to see a lot more people then we did...

all up a pretty good day...

Yep as Goldie said, he saw the bike so I was there.
Got a bit on the warm side, I consumed about 3 litres of water and 4 Gaterades.

I was there. Got to 44oC. Even better Demolition Plus won by 4 laps....

Yeah, I passed through that garage a couple of times, they sure had a good set-up.
What about all the trashed tyres laying about the place, would have been good for a few track days.
