Post by: elephantrider70 on November 09, 2009, 01:13:17 PM
i was quoted 55$ to swap the front tire on my m750 wheel w/balance ,not too mount the rim on the bike. is this a high price?

That's what I pay in overtaxed overpaid Norway, including wheel off/on.

So, I'd say YES. (but, what do I know?)

I was about to be charged $50 to mount/balance a tire on a front wheel off the bike. It's $55 if you roll the bike in. I complained that that was ridiculous and the guy gave it to me for $40.... Then later that day I found a smaller shop that does off-bike tire swaps for $30. Go figure.

Yep...but it's pretty standard for shops. If you didn't buy the tire from them they need to make some money off the deal somehow.

It doesn't do anything.

You put it on the bead and hit it with a hammer...3 pounder works great...

and voila...bead broken.

Cycle Gear is about $20 to mount and balance.  I have changed many dirt bike tires but they don't require balance other than aligning the dot to the valve stem.  For street tires I just have them mounted by machine and balanced.
