Had a burglary on Sunday night, and one of the items the thieving pikey scum-sucking sons-of-pregnant doges no-good low-life bastards took was my jacket, with my Ducati keys in the pocket.

This is a problem as 1) I can't ride the bike and 2) I can't get the petrol cap open.

I'm going to need to buy a new set of ignition/petrol/seat locks.
Looking for advice on how to remove the old locks with the least damage to the bike

a) What year/model bike do you have?
b) They took the keys and didnt steal the bike?? WTballs.

c) If you have skilled hands, you can pick up a lockpick set and try to pick it, you will need to replaced th lock regardless, so it will most likely end up being destroyed. You can get a drill bit and drill it to destruction. the petro cap can easily be picked with a torque pick and a raking pick.

b) They took my jacket, with Ducati keys in one pocket, and Alfa keys in the other :( I don't think they knew they'd got the keys, just took the jacket as it was raining and they didn't want to get wet on the bicycles they stole, while carrying my daughters birthday presents they also pinched. bastards, bastards, bastards, bastards...

c)Not sure what a raking and a torque pick are, but I'll try and get them and give it a go. Lockpicking isn't my forte, so it'll probably be back to drilling it out.

Where's your spare key for each?

Got a spare key for the car, but that isn't a great help as they can walk back any time they like and simply get in and drive off with it.

Never had a spare key for the bike. Only had the bike 6 weeks :(

Remove the ignition switch and bring it to a good locksmith shop.  Get a key or three made.

And then replace all the locks (ignition, gas cap & seat lock) on the bike.

You'll see sets on ebay and since your bike doesn't have the dreaded immobilizer you'll only have to replace the lock sets.   This will fit, (http://tinyurl.com/59vknx) but it doesn't have a seat lock. They show up pretty often on ebay.

Good time to go to toggles & dump ALL the keys. Opening that gas cap without a key is a pregnant dog though.

Sympathies. Thieving pikey scum actually stole my bike. They trashed the lock and cut the wires to the key set, presumably to try and hotwire the immoboliser... but only got to the bottom of the hill, doing plenty of damage on the way.
Anyway, a new keyset and lock cost around £175.00 GDP (are you a Britt) including red key. This is the tough part. The key chips need to be phyisically swopped for the old to match the ECU, not much use if it's the keys that have been ripped off. However, my local highstreet keysmith was able to cut new keys and copy the chip for around 10 quid each.
That's got the bike going but not enough space here to talk about the fiasco that parades as my insurance company- maybe in another thread.
