... we are left with Roehr (http://www.roehrmotorcycles.com/) and Fischer (http://www.fischer1.com/Fischer_motorcycles.htm) as our only(?) American sportbike choices. Fischer is intriguing since it appears to have a similar powerplant as the SV (Hyosung motor), but it does not have the mushy suspension. The bodywork is debatable, but if Buell is the benchmark for styling, I would give it an 8 graded on the curve (I think I am saying I am beer-goggling the Fischer)
Thoughts? Anyone have any FHE with either?
No, but I'm waiting for the likes of DucShop et al to make an American Bimota/NCR DBxxx series.
Then it can be an "american bike", something I'd want to purchase, and worth owning.
I could not pass up the deals H-D was giving on their remaining Buells....I may not be a work of art like a Ducati....But this think has a wicked look to it that I'm really learning to like. And 150 hp Rotax (not Harley) motor is VERY nice!!!!

I'm finding both the fisher and the roehr quite attractive. The price tag on the Fischer is quite nice at $8k.
Short video on the Fischer - not sure if this is the finished product or not. The seat to handlebar relationship appears to be pretty comfortable, but the footpegs seem kinda high to me.

Hard to argue with 150 inexpensive horsepowers. [thumbsup] Congrats on the bike and deal...
a common miss conception is that the hyosung engine is the SV engine. that is not true. the only thing they share is the 90 deg layout. not saying it is good or bad, but they are 100% different.

I'm toying with finding a sweet deal on a CR myself. :)
I got under $7K out the door...The bike was msrp of $11,999 a month ago.
Take this with several grains of salt...

Meh, that article shows the Tuono and captions it "If Aprilia could give its Tuono 1000R platform a cosmetic make over and a power boost it could have something for the Buell and Ducati."
Big ol' disagree right there. I like the way the nut-punishing Streetfighter looks, and I like the unique yet similar look of the Tuono. I think the headlight area of the Buell is reminiscent of the SF, but its the one in need of a styling mulligan. Them air scoops gots to go.

that is the best looking angle I have seen.
how is the ride compared to a monster or street fighter?

In person they're much less offensive.
Yes, as Mitt says, we need a ride report. [popcorn]
I saw a red one in the garage the other week, as I walked to my car, I kept staring at it. Its the only feature I *really* don't like. I think the black one looks better.
The Rhoer looks like a cofused Ducati, or maybe even the bastard child of the last 3 SBK designs into one.
I like my bro in laws Buell.....not as much as my bike but definitely worth $7k.

I've always liked the XBs, Sportster motor or no. Quirky yes, but they're a hoot.
Especially when bored and stroked to 88" or so and cammed to the moon.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
Vibrates like Crrraaaaazzzzzzzy......

they also "disappear" when you put the lowers on the bike.
I have met Fischer and have seen his bikes.
He is a cool guy ,ex-racer and as far as I know paid for All costs so far by himself.
Oh and the bikes look pretty cool too.
rgramjet is right. It is a lot more Vibey than the Monster. The mirrors especially...That bothers me alot. I have an S2R 800 with the more upright seating position, so the Clubman bars on the 1125CR are taking some getting used to. Power is amazing. Tons of torque and the engine has a peculiar sound to it that reminds me a little of our dry clutch Ducs. Redline is at 10.5, I've never been near it yet. I was in 5th gear at 5500 RPM doing 85 on the highway. The bikes sits a little higher than my Monster, I can flat foot both feet on the Monster...only one foot on the Buell. It's been cold and wet since I got the bike so the few rides I have been on I have not been able to really lean the bike too aggressively. I still love my Monster...it's a refined work of art, smooth and easy. The Buell is a lot more raw, in your face. Yes, it vibrates more, It's not unbearable...to me. That front brake is amazing. As much as I like to just sit and look at the lines of the Duc, I am amazed at some of the innovations on the Buell.
This thread back from the dead...
Did anyone else catch the Fischer MRX review on Motorweek this week?
http://www.pbs.org/mpt/motorweek/twowheelin.shtml (http://www.pbs.org/mpt/motorweek/twowheelin.shtml)
(No video, but I am sparing everyone John Davis' SIIIng-sonnnng deLIIIvery!)
I dunno, this bike seems like a bargain at 8k - more horsepowers and fuel injection would be nice, but the oddball nature of this bike appeals to me.
That's very interesting. Too bad they are using a hyosung powerplant.

Hyosung really? I have had experience with hyosung knock off honda Trail bikes and their knock of honda cg 125s.
and they are really badly put together. sure its a brand new bike for about 1/2 to 1/3 of the the real thing. But you'll be lucky if it lasts a couple of years.
got any pics? cos i'm intrigued

Thought it was a copy of an SV engine. I could be wrong though.

I think a little of both. As I recall, they were making some engines for Suzuki. Some of their bikes share design, and look a lot like some Suzuki models. Well, until you get close. Il dood is right about the difference in quality.
I'm not sure I would call it an "American Sport Bike" if the motor is built by Hyosung.
