Title: Making my Christmas list .... Post by: eddyshore on November 20, 2009, 07:02:42 AM One of the things I thought about asking for was a 14 tooth sprocket, Is it really worth it and what do you get out of dropping a tooth. And any suggestions as to what might be the best to go with ? Thanks in Advance

Mostly you get smoother takeoff from a standstill, with much less slipping of the clutch. Definitely worth it if you ride around town a lot. You also get higher RPM's for the same speed, which may not be a good thing if you do a lot of highway miles. For me it was definitely worth it since I don't spend much time on the highway. You loose some of the theoretical top end of each gear, but you gain a larger usable RPM range. It makes the bottom end of the power band less likely to lug, and generally acceleration is a touch snappier. Title: Re: Making my Christmas list .... Post by: junior varsity on November 21, 2009, 06:43:34 AM no, if the chain ever brakes and lets go, it'll act like a whip, that case saver is to protect the case from getting ripped open by a heavy, fast moving chain fragment.
