How do you guys take of your top triple?
Is there a trick to getting into that set screw that for some forsaken reason is really well hidden? I use to have a custom key that was grinded down to fit inside there, but ive lost it since then.
3 allen bolts, one near each fork tube, the other u turn the bars to the right, it will expose the last bugger. Use a mallet to pop off.. oh and make sure u take the gauges off lol.

thats the one im talking about. its shit hard to access. any special tricks to getting to it? i remember someone posted up a trick where you can drop the forks and spin it so you get better access or something.
I just used the longer end of the allen key, shouldn't be too difficult. I wouldn't mess with the forks just to get to that bolt. Long allen key is all u need, maybe a small pipe to extend the other end of the key for leverage.
how can you do that? its jammed up against the imobilizer sensor.
This worked for me:
1) Back out the RHS steering stop so the you can turn the bars further to the right, to get as much right lock as possible.
2) Turn bars fully to the right.
3) Insert the long end of your allen key and use a tube wrench (or similar) to turn with otherwise-too-short short end.
4) Remove the LHS and RHS top triple allen bolts and carefully tap the triple up and off with a rubber mallet.

+1 THis technique worked well for me too. I also unlatched and propped the tank. Just in case the hex key slipped while I was working.
Just be patient b/c its more prone to stripping than the others. You'll be fine.
Cut allen key is what I use
On the older Monsters, you can sack up and drop out the ignition switch, so that a ratchet with extension can access it directly from the back. That's what I did to make torqueing it back on with torque wrench easy, I have no FHE on the newer bikes. (It was also being done to aid in uncluttering wiring to discern where things were going.
