What does a beginning track rider do with a 190hp bike?
Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: DesmoDiva on November 24, 2009, 01:26:55 PM Does it actually say no more Kawasakis? Basically. The website is already updated with the BMW colors (Blue, red and white). Updated logo (http://www.superbikeschool.com/ui/wr01.jpg) What does a beginning track rider do with a 190hp bike? Be gentle on the throttle.... ;) Should be interesting to see how they work out. Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: Speeddog on November 24, 2009, 02:52:50 PM Holy crap, S1000RR's at Streets of Willow? :o
Are they 'throttle-by-wire'? They could 'limit' 'em that way I spose..... Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: Speeddog on November 24, 2009, 07:30:54 PM OK, 27 RR's and 4 F800's in the fleet.
http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=38803 (http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=38803) A bit more research, the rr's are available with the race ABS and TC, as well as 4-mode power control. So perhaps they won't be flying into the weeds as often as one might think. What does a beginning track rider do with a 190hp bike? there are very few occasions @ CSS where you're given full gears. the exact same thing could have been said about the kawis. it's not a go-fast school. or at least it's not until you're really able to. Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: Cider on November 25, 2009, 08:47:41 AM there are very few occasions @ CSS where you're given full gears. the exact same thing could have been said about the kawis. Personally, I think it's kind of cool. However, it does seem to fly in the face of traditional wisdom (e.g. learn faster on a slower bike, etc.). In fact, I probably wouldn't have ever done a CSS school, but I might actually consider it just to get a day on the BMW. Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: gm2 on November 25, 2009, 09:01:41 AM indeed, i think it's something that will get even more students in the door.
i'm just sayin' that if you're hot-doggin' it/not doing the drill, you get yanked. they have a specific curriculum and it's a very controlled environment. Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: OT on November 27, 2009, 07:13:25 PM I'm still gonna bring my own bike [thumbsup]
Title: Re: CSS teams up with BMW Post by: sbrguy on December 01, 2009, 05:28:47 PM when i went to the css school otehr guys there were saying that when they went around the track they couldn't get the bikes to rev over a certain amount something like 11k or so, it still had more but it was basically electronically limited to not go full bore. one guy came back the next day and told us that on the kawa 600 there is a wire you can detach so that the bike really doesn't make much power over a certain rpm so that is how they are limitin it.
i can see them telling the bmw dealership to do the same thing. afterall the bmw have so many computers and such in them i'm sure if you wanted to limit it to 10k rpm or so you could easily do that. just move the fuel cutoff down. it is pretty cool that they are using bmw though. |
