for my 24k service

And a quality tie down job

did that fork tie-down job... work?
yikes.
I always tie mine down from the forks too. Always works for me. I'm more impressed with the dinky ramp. :P Then again I'm really paranoid so that's why I got my tank-like ramp. ;D
I don't see anything wrong with that method.

are they compressed at all? doesn't look like it.
Ha! [laugh]
I agree, the picture makes it look sketchy, but yeah, they were compressed to nearly half-travel.
*Extremely* secure.
Also, having the straps low, near the bottom triple, really makes it work better.
Can't hardly see it in the pic, but there's a 'wheel chock' feature on the 'bed buddy'.
This shows it a little better:

I recently got a Cycle Cynch II that I use for bikes that have bodywork:
http://www.cyclecynch.com/CCpages/CCproduct4.html (http://www.cyclecynch.com/CCpages/CCproduct4.html)
It works alright, but it's a bit of a PITA to use, and the integral tie-downs make it really easy to clank the bodywork if you're not careful.
And it sometimes wants to fight with the clutch and brake levers.
Dinky ramp? ;D
Loaded my 500+ lb Gran Canyon with it, no issues.
It's got a long bolt sticking out of the bottom that goes into one of the three strategically placed holes on the lip of the tailgate.
You can see two of the holes in the pic, the ramp is pinned into the third one.
That way the ramp can't slide in any direction.
i hate how quickly service intervals go by. my wallet screams even louder.
beautiful monster- i'm sure you're stoked to get her back better than ever!

That's why I started doing a lot of my tinkering myself. ;D Then again, sometimes I get a bit ham-fisted and need to drop it off for Nick for fix like I will in about a week. :P

yeah, it was running pretty good already, altho I noticed an oil leak today from the filter. Hadn't been too long because I had washed her recently. The left side cover is weeping a little bit too, it seems.
I swore I wouldn't do any cosmetic stuff until I got the suspension set correctly, and Nick is putting in new springs and oil for me since I'm not a 140 pound italian guy.
Should be back to me end of next week. Then it's time for the cosmetic fun stuff. I swore to myself I wouldn't do any significant cosmetic changes unless it was absolutely necessary.
Wow, I knew Nick delivered, but he also picks up!
You are in good hands!!
I'm with you Embyr...I had my 15K service (VDS of course!) in September, and I'm already 3K of the way to the next one!! All respect to Nick though, I'll be adjustin 'n beltin myself this time.

funny... and true! Can't go wrong with Nick. He just set up my new front suspension for me. [thumbsup]
And she's back.
Thanks Nick.
felt good on the freeway today going to work. Didn't feel like the pavement seams on the 57/5 were beating me to death. Seemed to turn in easier too, not sure if that was the steering bearings or the springs or my imagination or what.
