Title: fuel sensor ripoff!!! any ideas
Post by: jerryz on November 27, 2009, 05:41:32 PM
My S4 fuel sender unit is faulty again and they cost $180  to replace ,I am fed up doing that as its 3rd time,so I am trying to fix the piece of crud...Well I have blown it out with an airline and cleaned the switch ,It works fine when I put multimeter across the switch circuit and the wiring to the lamp on the dash is all fine as is the bulb so the circuit works fine but when there is fuel back in the tank it does not work ????? The switch is a cheapo piece of crap and not worth £180  must be an alternative.  any ideas guys.

Is this just the low fuel level sensor? If so I would just live with it not working.

Just reset the trip odometer each time you fill up. First time you have to walk a couple of miles each way for gas at 2AM you'll know why I always do it. And mine works.

They always seem to fail five minutes after you pass the sign that reads "Welcome to The Middle of Nowhere".
