Title: "Swishing" Alternator on M900Sie
Post by: nomadwarmachine on November 29, 2009, 08:39:48 PM

My 2000 M900Sie has recently developed (or maybe I just started to notice) a noise from the alternator side that sounds like a "swishing."  It seems to be coming from the cover itself and is slow at idle, speeding up as the motor revs.  Has anybody experienced anything like this before?  Alternator bearing, perhaps?  Anything else that could be working loose and preparing to wreak havoc on my motor?

My crystal ball is broken, but I would want to check, removing the alternator cover isn't a terribly difficult job.  Both loose alternator nut and alternator bearing are possibilities.

Thanks.  You need to get that crystal ball fixed! :)

My alternator loves cosmopolitans and adores Broadway show tunes, but it's not all that swishy.
