Get well soon.
Pack it up kids, this is the first sign of the nearing apocalypse!
And you thought the world was going to end when he replaced Ozzy in Sabbath.
Shit, i seriously thought(not wished) he was going to get cancer for replacing the Prince Of Darkness, i wouldn't put it past that drug-addled, bat-biting maniac to pull all his black magic favors to stop the Holy Diver from success, just earlier in his career.
Seriously, Hope he makes a speedy recovery.
ozzy's voice gets very irritating after a while. it was nice to have a change when dio came in.

HOLY FVCK, you did not just type that....i am even afraid to reply.
And by 'after a while' you actually mean never....right? The Ozman as a one-trick-demented-rabidness pony was why Sabbath was so worth worshiping. How many shrines are secretly tucked away in homes around the world in the name of the Prince Of Darkness? And how many for Dio? My money is on Ozzy, cuz nothin sounds cooler then "wanna see my Prince of Darkness shrine?' Not to mention a fine real estate investment.
You have no idea what kind of power Ozzy has, the drugs simply help him tolerate people like you. The same people that probably didn't sell out OzFest when Dio played. Which is careless on your behalf, just careless.
blah blah blah...and by after a while i mean about 4 songs in a row. my tolerance for his voice has dropped severly as i have gotten older. as a young'n i thought he was all that and a bag of chips, but now he's jsut a bag of chips with a whiny nasly voice (btw, i can't listen to megadeth because of mustaine's voice either)
as for sabbath's popularity vs dio...DUH! sabbath is the name that made the leap and opened the doors for dio. the fact that dio took over for ozzy should be evidence enough for that. ozzy lost his power and had to hand the reins over.
as for the shrines to ozzy, i cna't hel;p that people are deluded and that he preyed on that delusion. dio was just a little hobbit and wasnt' tyrying to make people think he was anything more sinister than he was.
besides, dio is tons funnier than ozzy in interviews.
Alright..... I got nothing.
But next time youre in town remind me to tell you about the time my band played with Dio's assistant, he s the lead singer for Lightnin woodcock. And he isn't Dios assistant anymore.
and there's probably a reason he isn't his assistant anymore.
Dio still has his voice after all these years. Ozzy doesn't. Enough said.

And Ronnie James was born in 42, and John Michael was born in 48. ;)
I know it's considered blasphemy, but we're talking about Black Sabbath so it's expected right?
I like Dio era Sabbath and Ozzy's solo stuff a lot more than early Sabbath.
Plus, Dio was willing to get with the guys as "Heaven & Hell" and write new material where Ozzy was afraid.
Get well soon Ronnie James
there was a documentary on metal that was done a few years ago. the dude went to scandinavia and talked to the church burners as well as going to Wacken. he interviewed dio there and then later on at dio's house. pretty much the whole interview dio was taking shots at gene simmons.
and you could understand every word he said. ;)

it is a sad day... :'(
Eddie Trunk's site has a video of an interview RJD did a month or so ago at the Revolver awards and he was so positive, even though he'd been too sick just the day before to do a prior interview. I really expected him to pull through, but knowing now how ill he really was and how it didn't seem to get him down and make him bitter is inspiring.
:(
Crap.
Great musician.
RIP Ronnie.
You'll be missed.

Suckage.... first Frazetta, now Dio... tough week for fantasy-loving metalhead nerds like me...
I liked Dio.
RIP RJD.
