As much as some people may criticize the SNELL rating, it at least encouraged thinking.

I was not aware that he was a life long motorcyclist.  I remember when his Hurt Report first came out back in 76 or so.  Always thought the name apropos.

He rode "a garage full of things: Hondas, Triumphs, Nortons, dirt bikes, street bikes -- all kinds of stuff," his son said,

May you Rest In Peace, thank you for all your hard work and amazing dedication. You have saved innumerable numbers of lives all around the world and laid the groundwork for modern motorcycle safety studies.

He brought science to MC safety so that we need not rely on myth and folklore.  Yet there is still much myth and folklore around like, "helmets cause neck injuries."  Thank you Dr. Hurt.  You will not be forgotten.
