Title: If you're watching....
Post by: Monster Dave on December 02, 2009, 12:19:56 PM
If you're watching the new reality police show on A&E tonight called Lawman staring Steven Segal, I've got to know what it's like. I won't be able to catch it but it's bound (admittedly) to be awful, but like the last iteration of Knight Rider, I had to watch it and couldn't tune it off until I had witnessed the horror...

I just want to know if Segal kicks butt as a real life cop as he always did in his best movies....or not....

Did anyone even know that he has been a lawman now for 20yrs? Why has noone ever posted a thread titled "I got a speeding ticket from Steven Segal?"

If you haven't heard about it here's the gist from A&E:

A&E is in production on Steven Seagal: Lawman, a new Real-Life series that will chronicle martial arts expert and international film star Steven Seagal's extraordinary life in law enforcement, it was announced today by Robert Sharenow, Senior Vice President Non-Fiction & Alternative Programming, A&E Network.

Seagal's movies have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. He is an expert martial artist, with a 7th-degree black belt in aikido. Along with Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris, he's considered one of the film industry's greatest action stars. But it turns out that Steven Seagal isn't just an action hero in the movies. For almost 20 years, Seagal has been working as a fully-commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana. In fact, in addition to going out on patrol, Seagal is an expert marksman who has worked with their SWAT team and has instructed Jefferson Parish officers in firearms and hand-to-hand combat.

"I've been working as an officer in Jefferson Parish for two decades under most people's radar," said Seagal, "I've decided to work with A&E on this series now because I believe it's important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in Louisiana - to see the passion and commitment that comes from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in this post-Katrina environment."

I saw commercials for that show.  All I can remember is Segal yelling "tas him.  TAS HIM!!!"

I watched both episodes last night.

He comes off as pretentious but really is pretty bad ass.

Dude can shoot a make the beast with two backsing gun.  Was hitting the heads off matches.

Cool scene of him training other officers.  His martial arts skills are for real.

The cop scenes kind of suck because his unit gets there after another patrol makes a stop.  Kind of doing cleanup duty.  Like I said a little over the top and is definitely one of those cops who likes to teach a lesson but an interesting show.  I'll probably catch it again.  He is really passionate about cops and LA that part felt genuine.

Interesting. Hopefully it'll be on hulu and I can watch it sometime. I'd still get a kick out of telling people that Steven Segal wrote me a speeding ticket....lol  [cheeky]
