you know the carbon airbox they are talking about (for the 999/749 amd the 1098r)....it's $2000 us!!!!

the BST's are bargains....compared to the $2700 lever!!!

I have seen a Titanium frame pre-loved for $11K US
New they are $15K US, so between frame, levers and wheels you have over $20K
Not to mention the forks and rear shock which might well be $15K plus

So $35K and we haven't even spoken of engine, brakes, bodywork, paint or all the rest of the bibs and bobs
i.e. Titanium bolts throughout etc....

So D16RR

It looks to me that they are almost replacing everything and blueprinting the motor. Why would they have started with an R model?

Why not?

Seriously Danno ... what has given you the impression that logic has played any part whatsever in the decision making of this build?

... you could also sell the leftovers as 'R' parts I s'pose

I'm no expert on Ducati specs, but I assume the R motor would be way more special than the bog stocker or S model.  Bigger intake and exhaust ports, Ti valves, flowed heads etc???  Just guessing though  ???

When I read the blog I was amazed how little Ducati was actually left.

Why does a dog lick its goolies??  [thumbsup]

If its a bona fide shop project, you would think that the accountant would write it off as product advertising or some such accountancy/tax system rort and get the taxpayer to foot the bill?? :-\

Sorta like those V-twin (Non) Harley's, look like the real thing, but there aint a genyooine HD part in them. All manufactured by the aftermarket industry. :o

Heh, go to any club day race meeting and you'll see a fairing or two with a business name on it that has nothing to do with motorcycling at all!! Racing is a hobby of the rider and the business pays for the hobby!! (Shhhhhhhh ATO might be eavesdropping)  [roll]

Brad Pitt likes Ducati (didn't he and the midget come to blows over who got no.1 desmoseidici?) and didn't he just crash a bike a month or so ago. why not? what else are you going to do with the cash, let your fruit loop wife adopt more kids to be raised by nannies?

How trick are CF wheels...  8)  Not sure how suitable they are for the road though   :-\

I had the only set of Dymag Classic 3 spoke magnesium H pattern wheels in Oz on my Kawa when it was stolen  :'(

Love the look of these though...

I think I need a set of CF wheel for my next R&D project.

Are CF wheels good for the environment ???

A: Yes ,Less weight ,Less Giro effect, less power needed ,Less fuel used.

OK good reason to apply for a tax deduction Gov grant  [thumbsup]

Wilson actually owned a few Ducati's in the late 90's and such, Monster 900 and a 996, they had a major impact on the way he saw the world, hence his masterful release earlier this decade 'smile'. It was originally going to be called 'this Californian gridlock is pissing me the make the beast with two backs off' until his manager organised a few bikes for him.

(I hope you saw that one coming)

(I may be off stage, but I still got it!)
