Since it'll be impossible to go into any public place for the next few weeks without listening to schmaltz, what are your favorite inappropriate (or just ill-advised) holiday tunes?
Just this year, I discovered a Christmas album by the right Rev. Horton Heat (out in 2008, I think), which includes his take on holiday faves like:
The Reverend Horton Heat - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDMAM_89mME#normal)
Personally, I wish he'd put a bit more psychobilly into it.
It's hard to top a song that opens, "It was Christmas Eve, babe, in the drunk tank," but what else would you expect from the Pogues?
The Pogues & Kirsty McColl - Fairytale Of New York (Xmas Song) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCr30OVMjHA#normal)
Really, nothing says Christmas to me like Matt Damon Dillon (I should know better than to rely on my dodgy memory for celebrities) playing the cop.
But hands down, my favorite holiday tune is this:
Robert Earl Keene's Merry Christmas from the Family (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P37xPiRz1sg#normal)
Rudolph got a DUI.

Root Boy Slim had a catchy Christmas tune.....its title evades me at the moment.

Thanks all -- I'm building a playlist for a 12/19 Solstice Party (you're invited if you happen to be in central AZ then!) and it looks like I'll be doing some music shopping.
I'd forgotten about this one:
