Title: Valve Guides
Post by: 2 Wheel Wanderer on December 02, 2009, 07:32:21 PM
Anyone know the tolerance for valve guides on an 05 M620?

I did a 12K service and posted about the trials of tuning here http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=32032.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=32032.0)

Finally I just took the heads off just to make sue the valves were ok. I thought I may have messed something up doing the valve adjustment. I had the valve guides replaced 6K miles ago. The intakes seem ok, they wiggle a wee bit but the exhaust are way looser.

I think I found it .08mm for the service limit, anyone concur?

Concurred.

Assembly clearance:
0.03-0.06 mm
Service limit:
0.08 mm.

Here's the news. Horizontal exhaust guide is at .007mm which is on the edge of the service limit, the vertical exhaust guide is way out at .015mm. I'll have to get everything together and see if my dealer will replace them under warranty again. They all were replaced 6K ago with 38K on the bike under the extended warranty.

is the 0 after the decimal actually there or is it a typo?

sorry, that was a typo. They're at .07 and .15.

Edit: the guy wrote it down in inches. The real measurements are .178mm for the horizontal exhaust and .381mm for the vertical.
