pulled the plate on the yellow duc and handed it in to ICBC (our provincially (state) owned insurance agents here in British Columbia, Canada). After all the paper work was said and done ... I owed them $1.72 ....I thought I was getting a refund for the balance; which was 70 some odd bucks; so that was over 70 bucks to the bureaucracy to shuffle paper to cancel a policy ... $#!%!*^&*!. I still have a separate storage policy by a private insurer, its cheep-er. Who's still riding and where? Ride on bro's and sista's .... Title: Re: helmet hung for the season; insurance fees.... out the wazoo Post by: lagerman72 on December 03, 2009, 04:24:19 AM Still riding in the Mid-South but it's getting colder and I have to start pulling out the heated gear for my commutes.
Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wazoo Post by: seevtsaab on December 03, 2009, 05:01:38 AM Rode in to work last Mon - Wed, Nov 23-25, that may be it.
Combo darkness, horny bucks, snow & cold have conspired. Figure any riding in November here a bonus, managed to commute 'almost' every day. Just a matter of time before the state & towns start pouring money, in the form of rock salt, all over our roads, at every opportunity, that will be that for the moto. There's no off-time in AZ. Was about 36F?
I really need to grab some insulated gloves. Those couple months of 20-40 degree mornings are painful. Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wazoo Post by: dennisd on December 03, 2009, 05:56:21 AM I'm SW of Houston, Texas. Pretty much year round riding here. It only occasionally gets much below freezing and that is during the night. What we consider cold days here are highs that only get into the high 40F or low 50F. I believe our normal high for this time of year is 68F. Friday is going to be interesting, the high is going to be upper 30F with the possibility of SNOW!!! :o That's something we don't see much of.
Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wazoo Post by: WhiteStripe on December 03, 2009, 06:03:21 AM I hung it up here in Boston two weeks ago. Not so much the cold, as commuting in the dark. Call me a pussy but riding in rush hour Boston traffic at night is SCARY.
Anyone in MA shut their insurance off - i didn't think we coudl do that? Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wa Post by: DesmoReynoso on December 03, 2009, 06:05:28 AM 86F or 30C here in Miami and the rest of Florida.... [cheeky]
Last week a cold front came in for a fee days but I still rode through the torrential downpours & the cold weather. But mostly it is like the tv ad says: A bad day in Florida beats a good day anywhere else.... I guess the only time really when you can't ride down here is if a hurricane comes in [moto] Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wazoo Post by: vwboomer on December 03, 2009, 06:14:36 AM On the shores of lake MI here.
I rode every day to work from about 2nd week in May until the Wed before Thanksgiving. Then rode yesterday morning to work again. It was about 35f when I left and 38 when I came home 13 hours later. It's not the cold, but rather wondering if the bike is going to start. Even with the new battery it's extremely sluggish starting under 50. I don't recall ever being able to ride this late, and hope to squeeze another day or two in. Honestly though, the 2 days I took the truck to work was pretty nice. Hop in and go - no messing around with gear on both ends of the journey. Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wazoo Post by: duclvr on December 03, 2009, 06:30:38 AM Rode here yesterday. I love winter in S. Florida.

It's just too cold to ride (especially since the sun isn't out when I leave for work).
Calling my insurance this afternoon to drop limits and some coverage while it's in storage for a few months. Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wazoo Post by: Bigbore4 on December 03, 2009, 06:59:39 AM Haven't ridden for a couple weeks, primarily due to schedule, was hoping to get one more ride in. Today however it is spitting snow. I fear it is time to move the bikes to the back garage (AKA The Mens Crisis Center) so I can get the truck in the attached garage. The good news is the back garage is heated, so I can still putter around with the bikes all winter. Including fire em up once in a while to hear the music, and go in the house stinking of unburned hydrocarbions.
life is good Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wa Post by: triangleforge on December 03, 2009, 07:07:30 AM Rode to work this morning. There's no off-time in AZ. Was about 36F? I really need to grab some insulated gloves. Those couple months of 20-40 degree mornings are painful. I'm a little north of you in AZ, so this morning was 19 degrees. Still warms up enough for some fun afternoon rides, though. I've got my backcountry skis all tuned up & ready to go at a moment's notice, which will probably guarantee that this El Nino winter will be dry -- disappointing, but good for riding! But you can always go visiting someplace warmer -- we spent the Thanksgiving weekend with AM's sister & bro-in-law in Thousand Oaks, California, so I got to give thanks for a fantastic day spent on a borrowed Buell Cyclone, playing in the canyons above Malibu & a stunning, sunset run up the Pacific Coast Highway. That was a good day. Title: Re: whos riding & where? helmet hung for the season; insur. fees.... out the wa Post by: ArguZ on December 03, 2009, 07:09:49 AM Copenhagen, this morning....Ice Ice Baby

I'll be riding until the ice forms or salt get's on the roads really badly. Of course i will probably still ride then anyways! Yeah I camped out up there at Sunset Crater last Wednesday night. Bit chilly. And I drove through again post-dusting on Sunday. Hopefully that bodes well for the coming season. A little bit colder than here in Belgium apparently. Just above zero over here. It's not the cold or the dark that bothers me but the rain. I really hate the rain but it won't keep me from riding. The one time the bike stays in is when they start spreading salt because it really messes up the bike. It's in the low 60's today. December 3rd. It makes me wonder about those people who claim there is no global warming.
I keep my bike insured year-round. There are always those January days when the temps get into the 50's and I go for a ride. Biggest issue here is the sand and salt that gets spread on the roads when it snows.
