Title: Seat Mod Cheap and Effective Post by: WTSDS on May 27, 2008, 06:19:33 PM I went for a 2,000 km round trip on 8th May and when back home on the 18th discovered the DML meltdown - what a primo example of screwing up a great website ! ! ! Thort that was the end of it all, damm, damm and double damm.
By the time I came in all the links to " other " websites had been removed. So stoked to do a search and found Big Ian's link to here - just fantastic to see nearly all of the old gang here and firing, and I love that the old look and feel exists, and that I don't have to scroll my screen to read stuff. Many thanks to those who took the time and trouble to resurrect the Group - and I'm happy to chip in with some cash to help keep this website up and running. Anyhows, here's some pix of a low cost seat mod which made a HUGE difference. Apart from the butt comfort the added height meant I didn't have to keep having to stretch my legs and knees every 5 mins. This was the third time I have done same trip on the Monster. I do the main hop of 800 kms in one hit, with fuel/bladder/ ciggie breaks every two hours, usually about 8 hours riding and 30 minute stops each time - this time the breaks were only 10 mins each. OK, not too pretty but wow, it worked fine. The carpet squares are old floormats from a car, held on to the seat with webbing. The foam block was sculpted with a breadknife.
