I have two questions that I would greatly appreciate some feedback to.
First, I've noticed on my M695 that when I get on the gas at very low RPM's I hear a chatter/rattling noise. I can really make it obvious if I start moving from a stop using second gear. Is that my chain? My clutch? Does anybody else's bike make a similar noise in the same situation? It has done it since I drove it off the lot brand new and the noise goes away as soon as the RPM's are above around 2k.
Secondly, I have read on this forum that changing from a 15T to a 14T front sprocket on my bike will not affect the top end in 6th gear because my bike lacks the torque to hit the rev limiter in 6th. Is this true? I would like to drop the tooth in the front and knowing that my top speed would still be the same would be a big motivator to do this mod.

My S2R 800 does not hit the rev limiter in 6th with the 14T mod, so your bike shouldn't either.
Below two thousand revs isn't really Ducati territory. Most Ducatis will behave very badly in the two thousand area.

I'm just curious about the chattering noise. It doesn't seem like anything is wrong, but I would like to know that it's not just my bike that does it.
It's hard to know what kind of noise you have, but it's usually not pretty if throttle is applied at low revs.
Can you get other Ducati riders to check it out? Or a dealer/shop?
My good buddy has a M696, but his bike is basically a completely different beast than mine. When I ride his, it seems much more behaved in the low RPM's and that might be due to his bike having two more extra teeth on the rear sprocket than my bike has. He's kind of a new rider, so I'm not sure he will really know what I'm talking about.
I could run up to the dealer when they open on Tuesday. I guess at this point it's probably the best idea.

Sounds like a good idea to have them check it out at the same time as they do the sprocket change.
The 696 might be better behaved, but that doesn't mean you should accept a sound you don't like or understand.
I bet you will get the usual "it's normal", but then you have it from professionals and you'll sleep better ;)
Totally agree with stopintime, my M620D does the same if 'no gas' is applied below 2.5k....
But hopefully this will change, new FI controller, at least on bike stands, has changed the sounds of the bike....
