I'm rockin' an S4RS with a full CF Arrow system.  It sounds amazing! And REALLY loud!  Problem is, even with custom earplugs, I'm starting to develop tinitus (sp?).  Not good!  I heard you can order a baffle kit for these cans directly from Arrow USA, and my understanding is that this involves replacing the end caps and repacking the cans.  Any ideas on who, locally, would do this kind of work for me?  How much does a set of baffles reduce the sound on a fully piped bike?  Will I need to get the trim readjusted on my DP ECU?

Are they the carbon arrows or the titanium? My understanding was that the Ti cans can use the DB killers while the CF cans can't.

I've got the CF full system on my S4R and yeah...it's friggin' loud.

BTW - Desmotosport is always a good bet for this.

It could possibly use some repacking of the glass inside. If all of that blows out, it gets louder.

How about put the catalytic converter back?  It killed down the noise and environmental at the same time.  This is what I do and it works, not too loud but louder than stock system.

what kind of earplugs do you have that can't protect your hearing properly?

i have a custom set made with electronic attack and amplification.. they cut off all sound at 75-80dB.  i go to the machine gun range for a whole day and have no problems (other than the fact i stink like cordite)

tinnitus?  not a problem.

i suggest looking into better hearing protection.

I know. You have heard those arrows right? They don't understand the concept of muffling.

The pipes are the carbon Arrows and I picked up the earplugs at the San Mateo Motorcycle show last year.  They're the kind where they squirt that foam into your ear canal to get the mold, etc.  I use them for shooting and they work great, but the noise of the exhaust seems to echo in my helmet, which seems to amplify it.

I know that Arrow sells a homogulation kit which consists of new endcaps and the baffles, which can be inserted into the CF cans.  I'll give desmotosport a call and see if they'll do the work.

I'm definitely not interested in putting the udder back on the bike.

 [roll] yes, i have  [roll] and there not the loudest in the free world as you seem to think. Usually on the outside of that mesh tube thats inside is fiberglass, it does blow out, makeing them louder than initially designed.

Custom earplugs generally have far less protection that the cheap foam ones that you roll tight and let expand in your ear. I bought some custom ear defenders while at the bike show b/c I was tired of replacing disposable ones. It was way too loud. The foam ones are cheap and disposable but they're the best (short of doing the wax and tape solution the pros use).

I'd have to disagree with that assessment. My custom fit plugs are far better than foam plugs. I suspect YMMV, and you probably got a bad fitting when you bought them. It may also depend on the shape of your ear canal.

The vendor also matters. I've found that Big Ears work far better for me than Now Hear This. But, as always, YMMV.

I suggest working around jet engines for a few years. Your hearing will become less sensitive and then Motorcycle exhaust wont bother you as much.

I worked around Bradley Fighting Vehicles for a number of years.  While not a jet engine, that 25mm cannon sure can make some noise!

Did you ever see that movie about the development of the Bradly fighting vehicle? I think it was called Pentagon Wars.

...and it eats up your tax dollars almost as fast as that jet engine ;D Depleted uranium ain't cheap.

I thought about that. But it's much more satisfying to catch 'em in the act ans grin at them as the cops haul them off to jail.

I did, and laughed my @ss off!  I was involved with the Army's Stryker program in its early fielding days and often recollected that movie when dealing with some of the civilian contractors.

The Arrows DB killers are pretty effective, had a customer with an S4Rt that had me install them in CF cans.
It's a bit of a chore.
He was happy with the volume reduction.
