Ok it time to start our maintenance day again.

Once again this is a good chance for anyone that would like to do some maintenance on the monster and would like to have the security of having some one looking over their shoulder and bounce idea's off .

It would be held in the warehouse monthly , which also has an engineering shop attached to it for the more adventures ones.

So lets make some suggestions that will suit the first DMF OZ maintenance day .

So, when do you think you will hold the next one?

You see, I have plans for my baby.... [evil]

i'd like to come too..................weekday any time day or night is good for me

I guess we need to list sone dates and see if it suits everyone [thumbsup]

I wish I could attend but its a bit far for me. :'(

Sounds like I could learn a bit and get the bug for more mods. Like my wallet really needs that!

June is fine for me.
Week day or weekend.

Got a pretty big job going through July.

Have an idea about my pipes and making them fit into the right holes on the rearsets.

these guys have all the fun techno, we need to organise some rides or some thing pretty lonley riding on my own all the time :'(

Count me in as well..... Always some new bit of bling to attached to the beast and good to chew the fat over a warehouse full of Monsters for some new ideas.....  [thumbsup]

Hey count me in.

I'm no ambitious fella with a wrench, I'll leave the tricky stuff to Ron & Rob, but I would like to know more about basic maintenance

- oil change - check, got that covered
- bleeding brakes - not done it but keen to learn
- chain tensioning / replacement etc - ditto above
- checking valve clearances - ditto

shimming and more serious engine work etc I'll leave to flywheels
I would not ming knowing more about setting sag, replacing fork springs and oil etc etc..

A weeknight or weekend would be OK for me given some notice!

Im my opinion a Periodical maintenance should be a must before heading out on some of the long rides.
We dont want to be stuck in the middle of the bush with simple brake down. [thumbsup]

So does that mean the social meeting is being moved to the factory tonight before the ride Saturday?

You might need to hire in a barrister for the evening to work that coffee machine of yours so you can get some things done.

So seems we have a bit of intrest .I guess the first thing we should do is make a list of jobs that could be done on these days.

First of all and most important

Drink coffee.

Stopping ( Brakes)
Going (Drive line)

Then

Tire pressure and condition
Lubricants levels (all of us) :-[
Bleeding clutches/Brakes (goldfish)
Loose seats. (Melvin)
Chain tension. (Melvin)
Head light alignment (Matty)
Loose bolts in general.(Dockstrada)
Check all Bulbs (Dockstrada)
Dry clutch dust removal (BIG AL)
starter cable re-route/how to (sydmonster)
install L.E.D's see below


Odd jobs
Tail chops (super)
Some polishing
Small welding jobs
Alinment of Pipes (Matty)
Dirt and grime problems Hmm who am i thinking of ?????????

Now Suspension settings.
If  there is anyone that knows anything about this topic we can do it let it be known.

Hey Sydmonster we haven’t yet made any arrangements to start, we are just putting a list together of the jobs that people would like to do on these days.
once we are confident we have covered the requirements of all we will then post up some dates relating to the type of activities that will be done on these days. [thumbsup]

AND ITS GONNA STAY RED, BLACK AND PRETTY.  8)

Sounds like we need some dates to work with.
Saturday 15th June 2018 is about the earliest I cud attend.
That is of course, assuming Australia does not get the World Cup, which is very unlikely as its well overdue for the northern hemisphere, so we shall have to wait till at least 2022.

I got mine from clear alternatives and it was VERY easy.
Remove tail light, take lens/cover off, remove bulb, plug in LED board, fit smoked lens (or refit original), remount light assembly.
Job done.

Big that's a great idea. Always been a devotee of the 'you don't know what you don't know' mantra.

As for what I do know: how to put fuel in (but I can't always get that right either).

The clear alternatives LED tail light is an easy install: I got Jukie to do it.

I could be up for a sesh.  Pencil me in for fluid levels...happy doing the hydro brakes on mountain bike, but something about triple the speed that scares me on the moto.

I wish it wasnt such a long ride from Adelaide..... would definately need to have the maintenance done on my bike by the time I got there.. mmmm... The tryranny of distance..

DMF OZ Monster Periodical Maintenance Day #2
Sunday 22nd June ..... say from 1.00pm @ Vince's Warehouse.
From chain adjustment ...... to chain replacement.
From Parking light bulb replacement ..... to Headlight transplant.
No motor rebuilding but most small jobs are do-able or maybe you like to watch & learn.
Register your interest and possible maintenance work your Duke may need, to keep it performing to the highest standard.
Maybe just come along and soak up the atmosphere, a chat and a coffee.

Big question I know but it could be a fun job to take on and if it doesn't happen it's not a far walk home for me.

It's pretty easy, so long as you've got some way to support the front of the bike, and a way to get oil out of the forks.

To hold the front wheel in the air I use a car jack under the front cylinder (but I'm a dodgy backyard mechanic) the "proper way" is an under-the-triple front stand or a frame stand.

To get the oil out I use an oil pump I got from a boat place designed to pump oil out of boat engine sumps via the dipstick hole. I've seen setups made from large syringes with lengths of tubing fitted over the end too which woild allow you to suck out small amounts easier (I just slurp too much out, then add it back in carefully while measuring the height with a cheap plastic vernier caliper with a depth gauge on it - one of those small 150mm metal rulers is another good way to measure the depth).

I'll be in San Francisco on the 23rd, but if you want to borrow my pump before I leave let me know...
