Title: another FEDEX sucks thread
Post by: mitt on December 11, 2009, 05:34:18 PM
OK, so, we have had a bad day of weather this week, I will give them being a day late.  But, my 23" monitor was in Chicago on Dec 8th, and I still don't have it only 200mi away!  It was supposed to come the 9th.  Then the 10th.  It was "on the truck for delivery at 7:39am" today the 11th, but it didn't get to my house.  It is listed as "Local weather delay, delivery attempted" .

BS - it might have been attempted as in the package was on the truck and the truck was in my zip code, but it wasn't attempted as in they tried to drive down my street and got stuck.  The roads are fine.  It is holiday time - why are they backed up 3 days from 1 day of bad weather?  They are going to be really hammered if they have this little margin around Dec 25.

I really don't appreciate my new monitor getting joy rides around town when it is 10 degrees out, and I am sure getting handled like a box of rocks.  I will see tomorrow.

or not lol

Atleast you didnt get UPS, they have a built in package launcher designed for 23" TVs.

OR they knew it was a TV and opeend it to watch... AFAIK, they never put the tv into another box so everyone knows what it is.

Yeah, I recently had to make a 50 mile round trip to pick up a package from UPS that was sent Next Day Air. They said, "Address missing or illegible"

When I picked it up, in no less than 3 places on the front of my package was my address clearly typed and affixed with a laser printed label.

Even after filing a complaint, I got not apologies, or any sense they would look into why they screwed up.

why would they? it almost seems to easy for someone to look at something and admit fault.

So, the package got put on the truck at 7:34am today, and then spent the day touring our town, finally getting to our house around 5:30pm.

The fedex guy showed up in a Hertz rental truck, and had not shaved or trimmed his fingernails in several months.  He also must smoke in the cab, cause he stunk.  He said he had 50 more stops before he was done.

I don't know if the monitor works yet or not, I am letting it warm up slowly.

What happened to Fedex and UPS being a level above the norm, and doing things you didn't think were possible?  Now it is like they have regressed in customer service below the USPS.

I think USPS rates as #1 in service and reliability. Are they Government? or privately owned? I would say the later because things actually work.

USPS gives free shipping supplies, and has a very good rating system as far as pricing packages go. Flat rate is the best thing since sliced bread. And its hassle free.

However...their workers..umm yea..they freaking work behind bullet proof glass... (Well atleast in my area they do) Im afraid they'll pull out a gun on me sometimes.

One time, one of their workers couldnt figure out how to print a stupid label and i couldnt get my package back because it was locked in the bullet proof container. Its designed so that only one door can open at any given time and his end was open so mine was locked.  [bang]

This is a good question though...are all post offices set up this way? because every USPS post office ive ever been to is exactly like that.

Fed-Ex ground drivers are subcontractors. They work for themselves. Fed-Ex Express are company men.

I had a problem with one driver one time. I called Fed-Ex and never had another issue.

UPS is now using USPS to deliver their 'basic' service packages.

Government agency.  The bullet proof container is regional, the Scarsdale post office has open windows.

+1
I gotta ask, you live in a place where the cashiers reside behind bulletproof glass, a pack of smokes runs $10+, they dump garbage on your bike, the only trees have been planted on purpose, the only animal life is pigeons and feral dogs, your mayor is a peckerhead, airplanes land in your rivers, and the sound of sirens never stops.

Why?

Couldn't you get into school anywhere else?

Cant afford it and Not worth it so i live at home with my mom and pop. Actually its the other way around, UPS picks up some basic packages from certain shippers and delivers them to the closest Post Office for final delivery by the USPS.  It's kind of funny to see the looks on some folks when I pull my big ass UPS truck into the Post Office parking lot and deliver a bunch of packages to them.

Maybe in rural areas. Around here (so cal) fed ex ground IS sub'd out to another company but the drivers themselves are all employee's of that company. I had a problem with one too. He is no longer allowed to work my neighborhood per Fed Ex corporate.

Nope. You said UPS was employing USPS. Seems it's the opposite.

Seems to me if it has a UPS shipping label and the USPS delivers it to my house that's exactly what's happening.

Maybe it's a rural thing.

We have strange customs here in the sticks.

I see both fedex and UPS trucks pulling into my local post office.

Someone told me that they accept fedex packages at the post office too. The clerk looked at me like i was smoking crack.

UPS is is moving the packages between the shipper and the nearest Post Office for the USPS, not the USPS is delivering the package for UPS.
