Title: Re: bike trade Post by: M900 on December 11, 2009, 10:25:56 PM do it in a heart beat. as long as the 748 is in decent condition. my bike has about 10-11K miles, the 748 has 6+, and is 3 years newer. Title: Re: bike trade Post by: rockaduc on December 12, 2009, 01:40:38 AM What the hell are you waiting for?!?!?!?!?!!? Seriously, as stated, if the 748 is in premo condition and has already been examined for the dreaded flaking rocker arms issue, i'd go for it.
Title: Re: bike trade Post by: Raux on December 12, 2009, 02:02:27 AM service history and rockers... everything i read is that's a pretty expensive bike to maintain and the rocker changeout is $$$
Title: Re: bike trade Post by: M900 on December 12, 2009, 02:30:17 AM I'll try to see if I can get info about the rocker arm...
I think the worst part for me is that I won't have a Monster anymore... :'( Title: Re: bike trade Post by: swampduc on December 12, 2009, 03:00:14 AM I'll try to see if I can get info about the rocker arm... That won't be a loss once you ride the 748, as long as the sbk is in good shape.I think the worst part for me is that I won't have a Monster anymore... :'( Title: Re: bike trade Post by: Raux on December 12, 2009, 03:26:46 AM i saw a FANTASTIC 748 special.
He kept the front end, took off the side fairings, put on standard bars, moved the battery under the seat, etc.. and then went and painted it one of my all time favs Gulf Racing blue and orange. incredible looking bike. a sbk, monster style Title: Re: bike trade Post by: lwszabo on December 12, 2009, 04:27:17 AM but get rid of the extra Ducati tank decals and Pirelli stickers [thumbsup]

[laugh] [roll] Title: Re: bike trade Post by: sbrguy on December 12, 2009, 01:23:03 PM depends on what you are doing.
i asked this question and from what i hearf from peopel that owned 748 is that they are great track bikes and great bikes for canyons and such but horrible for everday use and such, if you are only going to use this thing for nice weekends and such and maybe the ocassional spiritied ride then ive heard its great, if you use it for anything else like truly replacing the all around use of a monster then its not worth it according to peoplethat have owned them. but hey this was all through emails. I just bought a Hypermotard so I could have used the SBK for just having fun but the deal is not going through... Either way, it has put a little SBK bug in my brain and I'm prob gonna eventually flip the CB 650 I am rebuilding to buy a 748 on a 916. The best part is I get to keep my Monster!
