Title: Noise Police in Victoria
Post by: mage on December 12, 2009, 04:08:49 PM
We were thinking of doing the great ocean road in Victoria early next year, but have been told that the police are rather keen on stopping bikes and checking noise emissions. [leo] Was wondering if any Victorians out there can confirm this,  apparently according to this guy they confiscate your bike if it doesn't pass their test. :o

Hmmmm, never seen a bike or car for that matter get confiscated for unroadworthiness!!  :o

Only if you had been riding like a twat (Warp factor 10 Mr Sulu!!  [thumbsup]) and got sprung, and then of course they take the vehicle! (Hoon laws) But not for things like Zorsts!  [roll]

I think if you ride sensibly you wont get hassled, although this time of year the  [leo] presence will be full on with "Road Safety" being enforced bigtime, so gettin g some licence checks at least would be a given?!

Sounds like a drug/alchohol induced scare tactic by someone!!  [evil] [roll]

Don't think you'll have any problems. I only get stopped for excessive speed.  [bang] Haven't had any hassles otherwise.  GOR west of Lorne is best.  East of Lorne = more traffic and more  [leo].  Not saying you wont see any further west though.  Last couple of times I have ridden the GOR I have seen an unmarked car with some tourists pulled up.  Least I know where they are then.  ;D

Some of us mainlanders are coming to Tassie in February for Turismo and catching up with Tassie riders.

it's not that bad!!!

you'll be fine. enjoy the ride. it's the frickin slow-as-shite tourists that can't drive that are more dangerous/concerning than anything else. the coppers are good!

enjoy!

But R!!

You know as well as I that a noisy motorbicycle zorst can cause human brain damage, wake people from their slumber whilst driving, and generally cause small animals to jump in fright and old ladies to flood the incontinence accoutrements, not to mention upset the tender sensitivities of the local constabulary??  [roll]

After all we arnt we all antisocial, law breaking rebels who deserve to be castigated severely for our gall in attempting to break out of the normal brain dead humanoid chariciatures of mankind??? Hmmm. [cheeky]

(Normal non-cynical transmission will now continue!!  ;D :o )

Just watch your speed and you should be right.

Was up in NSW and ACT a month ago - and I was staggered at the number of speed cameras and vehicles I passed en route. Over a 6 hr drive, I counted 4 mobile units, a good 6 permanent camera.. AND a god-knows-what-it-is-called system set up over the freeway, which records your license plate between two points 100s of km apart, and calculated your average speed.

GOR sounds like a blast in comparison.

hey you're lucky for just tickets.
Here in Germany word was put out... they set up two points on the same road ... get caught speeding at both points. 2000 euro fine and license gone for 2 months.
how's that for enforcement?
