Title: Slip-ons for the Streetfighter...
Post by: Speed 3 Pilot on December 14, 2009, 07:22:51 PM
I'm contemplating a set of slip-ons for my SF and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with Quat D or Zard.

I'm not looking for loud so I would probably run them with the db killers in place, but would still like the bike to sound good...loosing a little weight and improved looks would be good also.

If I didn't care about the noise, I'd probably go for the Competition Werkes slip-ons.

I've no direct experience with either one. I think the QD system looks better if you can loose the decals. I was going to get a Zard for the 999 but that is a totally different animal and different look. I'd say go for some Akrapovics.

Akros are nice, but look a tad bulky to me...

I tell ya Gene, if it was my bike/decision, I would be rocking these:

One way or the other, let me know if you decide to get anything through MotoWheels, as they usually give me a pretty good discount.

that is sweet, but you've got to remember I'm retired and living on a fixed income...hence, it's slip-ons or nothing... ;D

PAH!!  You've got grand kids.  You really think they need both of their kidneys?  Where there is a will, there is a way my friend.

Yeah, I know I'd be helping the economy also, but I want to do so while remaining fiscally responsible... ;D

I'd say go for some Akrapovics.

The Akros are growing on me, but they don't seem to save much weight over stock, only 3.45 kg...

hey, eight lbs is eight lbs. but then who cares that much about weight as opposed to good looks and good sound. If you could find a 2 into 1 system that'd really be the way to fly.

2 into 1 would be nice...Remus has this, but not in a slip-on...

And we have a winner!!  I would find a way to get that Gene.  I know you are looking for a quiet(ish) system, but Remus exhausts are very tame.  Rick can back that up.   [evil]

Bingo!!  Do not even think twice. Scoop that up before you can't find one anymore. They will be harder to find the longer you wait. Remus does have a stealth mode at certain rpms I'm told.

I would snap it up in a heartbeat if it was a slip-on, unfortunately it is a full system and way over my budget...additionally, it would require an ecu/ecu upgrade and probably a tune...

Akrapovic slip-on for the SF...

http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/ducati/model/streetfighter-streetfighter-s-2009/slip-on-61778cb416/ (http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/ducati/model/streetfighter-streetfighter-s-2009/slip-on-61778cb416/)

Kinda slab sided funky looking on the wheel/tire side, but seems to go with the SF's angular theme...

Also looking at the QDs, MotoWheels had this comment about their slip-ons>>

The owner said his slip-ons will work with his dual high pipes and a new single sided high pipe mid pipe that he was working on. If you decide you want to run dual high pipes later- you only need to purchase the pipes. If he goes into production with higher shot gun style single sided pipes, you will only need the mid pipe.
