Just saw this regarding a upcoming record attempt:

This is what they are trying to beat:

I've always wanted to build a car that could hit 200 - takes a LOT of HP -
maybe for the bucket list ;)
That's one bad ass Porch. [evil]
Reading the Aero article:
"Test driver Chuck Bigelow, 71 of Richland, WA, had to pass through the S-bend at a minimum of 210 mph in order to attain record speed during the following straightaway."
Wow. 210 miles an hour. On a curve. Wait... what?
"Test driver Chuck Bigelow, 71..."
*Not* a typo. A write-up on the record-breaking run, and a eulogy of Chuck:

RIP, you fast-driving sombich.
Those are incredible cars with incredible power for sure.
Not a production engine, but my all time fave for power was BMW's little four cylinder 1500 cc F1 that made between 1400 to 1500 HP - yep that's one HP/cc and that was 23 years ago.

LA
Ford had a little motor that made insane power out of a four too. The used it in a rally car I believe, it had to be rebuilt after every nine hours or some such at a ridiculious price. I'd post a link if I wasn't to lazy to search for info I can't clearly remember. :P

Ah, thank you. I knew with all the A.R. tendancies around here someone would do it for me. [laugh] I'm a lazy bastige. [popcorn] cool

Ooo.... I want to try too.
What was the Pike's Peak Hillclimb car that had the unlimited record in the late 80's with some Finnish guy driving? I remember the article in a special issue of Motortrend when I was in HS, but can't remember what it was. It had a massive turbo like the BMW.

;D You have no idea how much research I've done for papers using other peoples labor to find sources for me... of course by the time I searched all over for a thread that would pertain to the subject closely enough for me to pose the question, I probably coulda just done it myself. [cheeky]
