Title: 696 seat postion ? Post by: Link on December 15, 2009, 04:12:23 PM I was wondering if anybody has done a seat mod that would sort of flatten out the seating postion on the 696, getting off other bikes it seems the 696 seat wants to push you into the bars I'm comparing this to Jap sport bikes & my Aprilia Tuono the seat to peg height is also a bit cramped so I'm thinking new seat foam aprx. 1" higher from the tank end that would taper back to the stock height at the back of the seat. Any input from Corbin/Sargent seat owners would help.
Thanks Sorry if this is a re-post I did a search & came up empty. Title: Re: 696 seat postion ? Post by: Raux on December 15, 2009, 07:59:48 PM Ducati Performance Comfort Seat. or sit farther back and use your knees more.

Don I was wondering why that seat cost so much ;D Raux, using the knees is good advice (I would always put stomp grip on my track bikes) but the 696 seat just seems wrong in terms of what I'm used too even the race rep. bikes GXSR, Kawai's R1's, Aprilia RSV4 have a flatter or more neutral position to them. Has anyone else commented on this ? Anyway I think I'll go to the dealer and try out that comfort seat. I'll post up the results. Thanks for the replies Title: Re: 696 seat postion ? Post by: ungeheuer on December 16, 2009, 08:02:38 PM ... the 696 seat just seems wrong.... Has anyone else commented on this ? Everyone else has commented on this ;). The 696 stock seat is an instrument of torture, ditch it and you'll be glad. I went for the DP touring seat and am delighted with it, but others report true happiness with the DP low-ass seat too. Guess it depends on your own height as to which is gonna suit you best..... Title: Re: 696 seat postion ? Post by: Raux on December 16, 2009, 08:23:31 PM actually if you push your rear into the back curve of the seat and use your knees to stop sliding forward, the seating angle is comfortable. a flat seat when you do the same you end up crushing things a bit.
the seating angle isn't meant to be ridden like a dirt bike all up on the tank. at least that's my experience. Title: Re: 696 seat postion ? Post by: Venom51 on December 17, 2009, 04:59:16 AM I ordered a Luimoto seat cover and had the upholsterer add 1" of foam under it on the OEM seat. It flattened the seating position and is MUCH better than my low seat, in terms of comfort. After my 11+ hour ride over the Thanksgiving holiday, it's [thumbsup]
