Title: Hand Guards on a Monster? Post by: cyrus buelton on December 17, 2009, 05:58:01 AM Just curious.
Has anyone installed some handguard for added wind protection during cold season? Trying to make my bike as year round as possible. I am having heated grips put on, but also would like some wind protection. Obviously this will be a rigged up contraption, but curious if anyone has done it and if you could post some pics. Post by: scoprire on December 17, 2009, 02:42:55 PM I had some on mine for one winter before buying my other bike. The stock guards from a Suzuki V-strom are a direct bolt on if you have coffin type levers w/ the hollow mounting pin.. Maybe not the prettiest, but have good coverage, and easy to take back off when it warms up.

I ran the V-Strom units on my SV650 and they worked great. scduc's setup works better with the looks of the bike, though.Title: Re: Hand Guards on a Monster? i am having CC clip ons installed right now and some heated grips, just want more wind protection. i want to turn my S4r into a year round bike. this is my next step. Title: Re: Hand Guards on a Monster? Post by: He Man on December 17, 2009, 07:49:54 PM to be honest, id skip them and go straight for heated gloves
Title: Re: Hand Guards on a Monster? Post by: scott_araujo on December 17, 2009, 08:26:09 PM National Cycle makes something I'd kind of like but they're a little pricey. Plexiglass guards that bolt to the mirror mounts. Less uper moto looking than most shown here so far. I've been wanting some guards lately with the cooler weather.

(http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc19/silentbob_pics/PB188332.jpg) I don't have any better photos with me right now but these are Multistrada handguards. They bolt right up, look better than any other option, and provide much better wind protection that the dirt bike style guards. They even survived a crash at the track and saved the controls so we could finish the rest of the day. Title: Re: Hand Guards on a Monster? Post by: cyrus buelton on December 18, 2009, 09:37:58 AM I like those a lot.
wonder how'd they would work with clip ons? Title: Re: Hand Guards on a Monster? Post by: psycledelic on December 21, 2009, 06:22:34 AM http://www.roxspeedfx.com/cgi-bin/cart/showitems.cgi?subcat_id=273 (http://www.roxspeedfx.com/cgi-bin/cart/showitems.cgi?subcat_id=273)
I have the Powermadd's from Rox. Their kit comes with a machined, one set screw, quick mount and dismount system. Set them up once, and they can be on and off in seconds. I was skeptical at first, but they really stay in place. You do need a little space (bout a half inch) on the bars to mount. They don't look bad and make a really big difference. |
