Title: Bang! for early Christmas
Post by: angler on December 19, 2009, 05:39:16 AM
Bro-in-law sent me home with some custom 45 colt handloads.  I'm so jealous of his Dillon progressive. Silver ones on the left are for werewolves (cowboy loads) and hollow points (knuckle buster hot) on the right are for the garden variety intruder.

I live in the DC metro but bro-in-law lives in Tucson.  We were supposed to go out and cycle a bunch of these before I left, but family issues and weather got in the way.  Bummer too because he just got a holographic sight for his AR and had a few cans of tannerite laying around.....

Shooting around DC sucks.  Its mostly indoors and you can't bring tannerite or old TVs indoors  [evil]

Let me know if you want info on casting and reloading. I've been doing it for a number of years.
I've worked out alot of bugs through experience, where it would have been nice with someone with experience
to get help from ;)
Newest caliber I am going to work on is my new christmas present.
Ruger #1 in .375 H&H
Gotta wonder what  300gn RN FMJ bullets are going to feel like at 2900fps.
Think i'll get a bag and fill it with lead shot for that bench rest session  ;)

But it's a 5.56  ;)
After talking to my brothers when they got back from Iraq, it's a hated round.
Fun to shoot and plink with but lacks knockdown.
It's bad when you shoot a guy 4 times and have to finish him with a sidearm.
M14 is my personal favorite. Best rated all around battle rifle out there.

hard to argue except when you bring up the good old trusty AK-47...which personally I like the Romanian MAK-90 variant that has the full stock with thumbhole...

I agree on the .223/.556 being a plinker, hence why I got a Mini-14 ranch model...for exactly that purpose...

I'm looking to start reloading for a Smith and Wesson 6946 (3rd Gen 9mm)... what do I need to start?

.375 H&H

:)

My brother just got his hands on a barrel in this caliber for his Thompson-Center Encore pistol. Complete and utter insanity.

The .308 barrel will numb your hands after six shots.....
