Title: Spam from info@ducatimonsterforum.org
Post by: somegirl on December 22, 2009, 07:10:56 AM
I got a spam message this morning showing it was from info@ducatimonsterforum.org.  I have the option to hide my email address from the public selected, so I'm not sure how the spammers managed to get it.  Anybody else?

There is no such email address.

similar emails last week on my clsb (work) email from old attorney accounts that don't exist anymore.

yep, it is an internet problem, not really a forum problem.  It sucks, but not much we can do. I got a "admin@" email from another Nissan forum last week - same thing happened to it.

This seems like a different problem than the one in the link. Somehow they are able to harvest email addresses from our system (in the link they talk about PM spam)

This could have happened as part of the recent hack, or it might be something ongoing. :P

Well, if we can somehow find the perpetrator, I'm sure Daryl could arrange some retribution.  [evil]

I have a dedicated thread over at smf about it, lots of views, but no answers so far.

I think he meant a link to a thread talking about problems with the board software

Doh [bang]

I copied the wrong link anyway.  I thought you wanted to locate the perp.  I got another one today, no biggie, just thought you should know the problem still exists.

I've gotten 3 in the past few days. What "hack" are we talking about though? I've been MIA for a bit.

Somehow a spammer seems to have gotten access to the "hidden" email addresses on the forum.

Not a whole lot of people being hit (I haven't been) but it's still troubling.

I got another one. They're annoying. Make them stop.

I never got this from the VS run board.

Yeah I went there.

VS  puts the spam in the forum. they don't need to put it in your inbox
